Cruise to Caribbean with K3 Visa?

Going to Hawaii would be out of the question for us. That would require flying across the country for an expensive cruise. We could go out of Florida ports much cheaper. Maybe we'll apply for a visa for the Caribbean once we get the US visa out of the way. One step at a time... :)

Yeah, that's what I think I'll do once my wife arrives here. We'll try to obtain a Bahamas visa for her then. I looked into a cruise from Florida through the US Virgin Islands, but the shortest trip was a 7 night one. My plans now are to stay in Miami for a couple days and then take a 4 night cruise through the Bahamas.

AOS Timeline

7/28/07 Sent AOS and EAD package to Chicago Service Center

8/31/07 NOA1 for I-485 Adjust Status & NOA1 for I-765 EAD

9/26/07 Biometric appointment

10/31/07 EAD card arrives in mail

11/16/07 Applied for SS number. Told it will arrive in 10 days.

1/29/07 Mailed I-129 package to Chicago Service Center

1/31/07 Received by Chicago Service Center

2/02/07 NOA1 notice date from Missouri (NBC)

08/19 - Received NOA1 (I-797C)

12/13 - Approved!

12/18 - Received NOA2 (I-797C)

I129F:

08/22 - Mailed to Chicago

08/25 - Received by Chicago

09/02 - Received NOA1 (I-797C)

10/23 - Transferred to VSC

11/01 - Received by VSC

12/13 - Approved!

12/18 - Received NOA2 (I-797C)

12/18 - Transferred to NVC, then to Embassy

02/01 - Received Packet 3

02/02 - Medical

02/06 - K3 Interview

02/14 - Received K3 Visa!!!!!

From what I've read, the K-3 visa is good for multiple entries to the US only. You'll still need to obtain a visa or whatever the specific requirements are to enter another country. For example, the bahamas will require my pakistani wife to obtain a visa to enter the Bahamas, while I as a US citizen just need to show my passport and some minor other items. (arrival/deparature sheets, sufficient funds, etc).

I don't think it woukd be too tough. I couldn't see it taking more than a month or so, if you send it in.. quicker if you are able to visit the embassy or consulate in person...

You would get a visa to Bermuda through the closest UK Consulate

For the Bahamas, you would need to apply at the Bahamas consulates in Washington DC, Miami or New York.

Do you guys know how safe it is to mail your passport to get a visit visa, for a carribbean country? I want to take her on a honeymoon through the Bahamas, but hesistant to send her new passport with her hopefully new K3 visa status in it.

If anyone has gone through this, please let me know.

Someone else in a previous thread posted this great website... http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations...ation/index.jsp you just put in that she's a pakistani citizen and Alien Resident of US and click on where you want to go and it will tell you the visa requirements if any.
