International travel after filing N400

A day after I filed my N400, I had to leave on a business trip. In N400 the details for all international trips is needed. Clearly, my this trip would not be there on my filed N400. I am hoping when I go for interview I can tell about this to the officer and make amendment to the N400 application there infront of him before signing the form.

Is this ok? Anyone else done this earlier? any issues?

You will get a chance to amend your application and add any trips at the time of your interview.

And you also report the trips that you have taken between the interview and the natz ceremony at the time of your naturalization ceremony as well...

You may have read it, but it wasn't true :) BUT, if you are close to having 1/2 your time out of the U.S. in the prior 5/3 years, then you have to be careful as you are still not supposed to exceed that before the Oath ceremony - hopefully this isn't an issue for many people but it was for me because I went back to Canada to finish up university.

This is interesting. Somewhere else on the board I thought I read that you could not leave the country after filing.

12/06/06 - Approved!- - - 12/08/06 - Touch---01/25/07 - Touch

I130 at NVC

12/14/06 - case number assigned

12/25/06 - DS3032 & AOS Fee Bill Mailed (phone system updated 12/27)

12/27/06 - emailed choice of agent; 12/29/06 - received email from NVC confirming choice of agent!

01/01/07 - NVC generated IV Fee Bill (postmarked 1/17 though!)

01/03/07 - returned AoS Fee Bill via Priority Mail (James' shortcut)

01/15/07 - NVC generated AOS package

01/22/07 - received IV Fee Bill - overnighted back to NVC same day

01/27/07 - recieved I864 package; 01/29/07 - overnighted I864 to NVC

01/29/07 - DS230 generated (phone system not updated, email response 2/5/07)

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

09/28/06 - NOA1

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

03/16/07 - chose not to return packet 3 to Montreal

HI,

I would suggest you to leave the country,because you going to get a Fingerpritn appointment notice soon and if you gonna miss it and your application might be denied.

Travelling after firling the N-400 is not a good idea anyways ,there are soem other issues may come up.

Wait 6 month and then go travel. Someone else mentioned on the board that it might take even 4 month till the whole process gonna be completed.

There is no restriction on international travel after you file N-400. As long as it is a trip of short duration and does not break your continuous residency, it will not have any adverse affect on your application. If you are traveling just after filing your application, ask someone to watch your mail as you will be receiving NOA and then your fingerprint notice. I traveled after filing my N-400 and was a non-issue at the interview. Interviewing officer asked me the dates and purpose of my travel and wrote it on my application, thats it.
