I actually thought that allowing people without SSN's to establish bank accounts is a great idea. People who don't have SSN's are not necessarily illegal aliens, and I thought that of all people, VJ users would know that.

If the benefit was only available to those who could prove legal entry into the US That would be a Great Idea. However it is not limited to Legal residents or Legal visitors, it is open to anyone, So and person off the street can walk in with a non-secure ID and open a bank account or credit card.

This only breeds more potential for other criminal activity does anyone here recall 9/11?? How do you think the terrorist got funding to support it. Fake Id's accessible funds, Credit line.

It is a novel idea but structural has alot of security problems, there are over 640, 000 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT FUGITIVES in This Country, Allowing them access to open a US Bank Account is ENABLING Terrorism,

It should be limited to those with a Valid Passport, EAD card or Green card and proof of legal entry into the US.

Matricular Conselor ID card is not A valid or Secure ID.

There is nothing wrong with that...but our banking laws should be amended to ensure they have Green Cards, valid visas, passports, etc. People in our country illegally really should not be enabled to easily live, thrive, and survive as if they are legal residents or citizens. To do otherwise is part of the problem...not part of the solution to the problem.

And even though what BoA is doing is not illegal...they are part of the problem rather than being a solution to the problem. In fact, they are enablers and a major contributor to the problem. They put greed ahead the common good of the country their institution is named after.

For that reason I wouldn't do business with their sleazy outfit. Their "money at any cost" agenda doesn't jive with my personal ethics. Screw them and the rock they crawled out from under.

Technically most people who have pending visas are not legal immigrants. The day someone's greencard is approved is the day they become a legal immigrant. Common sense would dictate that anyone without a Social security card should at least be required to produce additional documents to prove they are who the say they are.

If someone can not produce a US passport, US drivers license or a Social Security card they should be required to at least produce various forms of certified and verifiable international identification.. If people still think this is too harsh well then give them access to your bank accounts..

I agree. But I'm more concerned about people who are here with valid temporary visas and are not eligible for SSN's. Like F-1 students or H-4 dependents. I was an F-1 holder for a while, and trust me, there's nothing good about being here legally for a long time and not having a SSN. In fact, it just sucks.

I know it is horrible that those who chose to go through the proper channels Legally have to wait so long, not be allowed to work, not be allowed to open bank accounts, drive a car legally or be with their loved ones, yet we have billions entering our couhntry that are given incentives accomodating benefits for their illegal law breaking behavior. That is what upsets me the most.

It is like the US Govt. & Other Enablers on this forum want those who intentionally violate the law be extended benefits and special treatment while others who obey the law suffer.
