Good Post and a lot of truth in what you posted.

I have seen so called "good girls" go bad once they get to USA, It tends to be the younger girls who hang around the wrong friends.

But overall you hit the nail on the head....

Excellent post! Tell you what, I'm 27 and Im with a 29-yr old american. I was bashed a few times for being with a "young" american because they said they didn't have money while their nasty old farts have pension and whatnot (thehelldoIcare?) ridiculous, right? I always try to say i'm an independent girl who doesn't need to be with somebody to support my needs and my wants. It just happened that he's american and I'm filipino, no big deal. Those ignorant girls think that their way out of poverty is marrying "old foreigners" - the older the better because they say "it's closer to being dead, therefore it's sooner that they can get out of the relationship after getting what they really want." It is horrifying. To be quite honest, ever since I've been in the US, I never acquainted myself with my fellow filipinos just to stay away from trouble. This is America, speak in a language where everybody can understand you. I am not saying that all of the Filipinos are like that but I just really think there's no room for self-improvement if you surround yourself with Filipino friends, eat filipino food all the time, talk in your language... This is America and I am privileged to get to experience their culture and I am embracing it. I have not eaten any Filipino food since I got here. I weaned myself out of rice pretty easily.

So generally, as a filipino myself, i dont like hanging out with filipinos here since most of them are just really nosy about what's happening in your life. And I'm not like that. In actuality, i dont give a sht. Lol

Bravo though for this heads up. :)

I too am a young woman, 24 and my husband is an american, 28. And i agree to everything you have said. Back when I was still in the Philippines, there are a lot of Filipina women who were only focused on how much money these old foreigners (american, non-american) have and how much it would be of benefit to them. No emotional or love aspect contributing to these 60+ foreign men and 20 y/o women. A lot of factors may play in this situation. They might be poor when they grew up, did not have parents who raised them properly, or maybe they did not get good education. It's sad to see but they believe they are powerful, attractive etc when everybody around them (even if its just their filipino friends) praises and looks up to them.

I too, have chosen not to be acquainted with fellow filipinos as well and I am trying to contribute to the american society and embracing its culture. I've chosen to stay away from them and not be involved with people who talks about each other and tries to always bring fellow filipinos down like everything's a competition.

That's due to the culture differences , many of the immigrants from all over the world got caught up in the American culture and that false so called freedom . Those differences are my fears from relocating.

Needs to be a stickie.

The 4 M's !! Every Pinay knows what those are, so if you are curious, just ask your wife. ;)

And yes, marrying too young of a Filipina is an issue. I know of lots of age gap marriages that work and the couple is very happy, but the Filipina is old enough to have "life experience"

My fiancee wouldn't believe this if I showed her, she's clueless about some of the women that come out of here country. I, like OP, was lucky enough that we lived together overseas for a year and half, have been together 5 years now, and only have 3 years difference in age. I have zero hesitations with her, but who knows maybe in a few years I'll be on here telling my tale.

Wow! Just wow for your post OP. Thank God, my fellow Pinay friend already quit the same group and i hope they will read this post. My friend met them here on VJ when she was still on K1. she always invites me to go with her when they have get together parties but i never say yes because i never liked parties eversince and i dont understand their dialect too ? (P.I. has 70 plus dialects ? )

Been here for 9 years and i only have 4 pinay friends the other 3 are on their 60s, 30 years my senior ?
