Yes it is a normal step and good sign. Once changed to Non-Immigrant they are in the process of issuing the visa. That means that all of the leg work for the approval is complete. Congratulations!

If interested at all you can search for your visa now under the non-immigrant menu using the barcode number from the DS-160. Says the same thing as the other way, just an interesting thing I stumbled upon.

I don't know if I understand your post too well. My IV status was showing READY before our interview and NIV was showing NO STATUS. Now when I check NIV, it says READY.

Does the NIV message change when they are about to issue the K-1 visa? I've been keeping an eye on both just in case it gives me a clue.

There's an immigrant and non immigrant dropdown. People always choose immigrant and put in their case number. I was just pointing out that you can choose the non immigrant and use the # on the DS-160 Barcode page. It shows the same on both, so it doesnt really matter which you look at. You will showed issued soon now that it's swapped to non. Edited by Shauneg

I was describing the drop down menu - mine doesn't show the same message on both.

So are you saying that once it's issued both the IV and NIV will say issued? What will the NIV message say when the IV case is in limbo like the OP's?
