My husband had his interview today and the CO said all his paperwork looks good but they need a document. They told him to send it with his passport. But when I look at his case status, it says administrative processing. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. He needs to return the document and passport. Allow time for the embassy to get it and review everything. They may also do a background check on him. Know one can tell you how long his AP will last but I hope very soon they will issue his visa.
