Wow... I know we all (well some of us anyway ) like to point out what's wrong with the US but at least we have the freedom to do it. I hate Islam, Alah, Egypt, al-Azhar University, and President Hosni Mubarak the dictator!!!!! Ahhh, that felt good!

All the more reason for more women in the U.S. to marry Egyptian men. SAVE the bloggers!!! Help an Egyptian escape the repressive and intolerant govt of Egypt!!

And yes, I know that Egypt is a friend of the U.S. and we send lots of money there to help them. Egypt has major problems and so many ppl that I talk to want to get out. On the other hand, there are many that I talk to that love their country just like we love (love??) our country and want to stay to help their beloved country. I feel very sad for Egypt because I have seen extreme poverty there and some of what the ppl have to put up with in just trying to live their lives.

Now I hope that Mubarak isn't reading this site because I don't want to be arrested on my trip to egypt.

But for you (m&n): have you ever read Ergun Caner's Unveiling Islam?

Reason I ask is because Caner (a Turkish muezzi's son) states that the Muslim's "Allah" is NOT the same as the Judeo-Christian Yahweh (Hebrew)/Jehovah (Grecified form).

Reason I ask is because Caner (a Turkish muezzi's son) states that the Muslim's "Allah" is NOT the same as the Judeo-Christian Yahweh (Hebrew)/Jehovah (Grecified form).

I haven't read it so might have to take a look at it, but we are all consider people of the book . . . which I thought meant that we came from the same origins therefore we have the same god (of course, this means for Muslims, Islam is the last /best religion) . . . doesn't Islam consider Jesus a prophet? So they recognize that he should be respected but not that he is "son of god", etc. At least that is what my husband says. Kinda makes you wonder why we are continually attacking each other but we all know families fight amongst themselves.

I've read some articles about him in the religious section of the Dallas Morning News when this book first came out. His views are a bit controversial but interesting.

His "Challenge" website states : "An unexamined faith is not worth having" . . . a sentiment that I agree with.

LOL, I just noticed that with his brother he is an editor of the LARGEST book on Southern Baptist history!!

Right . . . I am sort of a Christian myself (being raised Catholic,etc). I have found it interesting to see that those who have "converted" to Islam (even though they were born and raised Christians) say that they re-vert to Islam. Soooooooooooooo, since Christianity was around before Islam, I just applied the term for when the Muslim became a Christian . . . makes no sense either way really . . . just playing word games. Sorry if that is NOT appropriate . . . and my mind is a bit skewed by my normal course of tangential thinking . . . I should know better than to use it in a forum!!

I thought Egypt is supposed to be more tolerant than the rest?

the sad thing is, it is. It's funny to hear liberals say that we should let the people oust the bad guys in that region but stuff like this is a clear indication of the consequences of speaking up. Imagine he did this in Syria, or Iran or Palestine, he would mysteriously disappear..

I've read it, Not impressed. Any idiot can sell a book these days on why they left Islam. I prefer the views of former Christians who converted to Islam, especially those who used to be priests, nuns and ministers. They're rad!
