Different surname on GC and Passport

I just had a quick question if anyone can answer, I have my GC with my married name on there and my passport has my maiden name on there, are you able to travel outside of the USA with them like that? or do you have to get your name changed on your passport to match the surname on your GC?

You can have your passport updated at the British embassy in Washington DC... I cant get you the link right now as I am at work and Google is banned here... if you do a google search for British Embassy you will find it...

The way I understand it is either you need to have your name changed in your passport or you need to travel with documentation (i.e. your original marriage certificate) which will connect the dots for the immigration officer.

If you do not update your passport you will need to make sure you book all filight tickets in your maiden name as flight tickets must match your passport or you will not be allowed to board the flight out of the US.... to get back in you will need your Greencard in your married name, your passport in your maiden name, your ticket in your maiden name and then to tie the two names together a copy of your Marriage Certificate....

Would make much more sense to change your passport if you can... then everything is in the one name...

When I travelled outside US, I went to Phil. Embassy and have them stamped the amendment page on my passport with my married name. My plane ticket was under my maiden name and gc under my married name. I did not have any problem with the airline and with immigration.

It took under two weeks to get Annie's new passport from the British Embassy in DC.
