Hi All,

We were just notified that my wife's AOS case was transferred to the California Service Center. I've seen a few posts on the board regarding this, but was hoping to gain a little more insight into the transfer.

1. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean that our case looked pretty good at the Missouri Service Center and so they transferred it to the California Service Center, or was it even looked at during its time at MSC?

2. In follow up to question #1, would an RFE been more likely to have come from the Missouri Service Center, or still a good chance from CSC as well?

3. Is it likely for a case to be transferred from the California Service Center back to a local office for an interview? If yes, anyone have any insight as to what determines a transfer back to a local office?

4. Is this a good thing that the case was transferred less than a month after the NOA1 receipt?

Just trying to get a handle on what this means for her case. Nonetheless, we were excited to see some activity so early in the process. We weren't expecting any emails from USCIS for a while, unless it was an RFE of course.

"On February 20, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Thanks in advance for your replies and insight!

1. some cases will be sent to CSC because there are too many files at MSC and CSC is not too busy

2. RFE can come either from MSC as well as from CSC, only case has been transferred to CSC does not mean that there is no RFE to expect

3. According to some cases I have read at VJ it is possible that a case can be returned to MSC followed by an interview

4. does not mean necessary that the case is processing fast when transferred to CSC. Many cases are sitting there very long.

But for now it looks pretty good that there is no interview to expect...keep the fingers cross!!!

1. Nobody knows why their cases get sent to CSC.

2.Still a good chance that CSC can send out a RFE

3.Yes, there have been a few cases that have been sent back - but it is fairly rare.

4. Usually a good thing, I hope the best for you anyways. Some people are at CSC for a month, others are still there after half a year.

Good luck and congrats.

Hey there STL_HCMC.

We have a list that is pretty much kept updated for tranferrees.

It will give you a bit better idea of what happens. In most cases, a transfer is a good thing, it means usually a quick approval without the need of an interview. RFE's can be received before and after the transfer. I have seen a couple of cases where the file is transferred back to a local office and an interview was done, but this is rare.

If you want to be added to the transfer list just give me a hola with your details and I will do that for you..
