How to extend the time frame for k1 interview?

Hello guys,

On our NOA2 it says that the petition is valid from 5/19/2015 to 9/18/2015. We still haven't scheduled the interview. When my fiance tried to schedule it today, the earliest available date was October 7. Who do we contact to ask for an extension of that period? How often do they give extensions?

Petitions are usually extended by the consulate automatically. You can email them about extending the petition expiration date, if you wish to get confirmation in writing that it is being extended without any problems.

So there is nothing to worry about? Should we just pick a date in October and it will automatically extend right? Also my fiance needs to submit 2 passport photos with the DS confirmation. It says the photos need to be taken within 6 months. How crucial is that? She has the passport photo I submitted with the petition last year. The pic is about an year old now but it is obvious that it is her. She really hasn't changed. She actually used that same photo when filled out the DS-160 form. Can this cause any problems?

Yes, you can pick the earliest interview date available and it should be fine.

I believe many people re-use the same passport photos. As long as you still look the same, should not be an issue.

I had the same problem , I emailed the us consulate in sydney and they asked my fiance to do a letter requesting an extension, the letter can be scanned. Its an easy process and better safe than sorry.

My fiance just called to check if she needs to put a more recent photo. They told her she can submit a new DS-160 form with new photo. She chooses to do so just in case. The person told her submitting a new form would be ok but we are still concerned if the consulate will see that she filled 2 forms and if that would be a problem. She never sent the confirmation number of the first one. Will the consulate actually find out she filled out 2 forms and is that a problem? She will only send the confirmation number of the later form.
