Thanks KASH2011..Yeah it is taking too long. I did a service request and they said that my file just arrived at my FO and an officer is actively working on it. I just hope it does not take too long now. I am getting really frustrated.

Hi lemontrees, sure no problem!

I showed up to my appointment a little early (Dont arrive too early or they won't take you) and settled in the waiting room. I was called back to a room with an officer around my scheduled time. We started with an oath to tell the whole truth and then the immigration officer explained the process: civics test first, English test, then going through my application to ensure everything was correct before signing.

For the civics test if you get the first 6 questions correct then they stop and move on since this is the minimum you need to pass. The English test was redundant for me as a native English speaker. When going through my application I had to update the section on dependents since I had a child while my application was being processed (I brought his birth certificate with me). After updating that the officer explained the oath that I would take on the ceremony day and asked if I was willing to take it by going through each section e.g. willing to renounce birth country citizenship, willing to bear arms on behalf of the US etc. Finally he congratulated me and gave me a paper that indicated I was eligible to become a citizen and told me to return to the waiting area and wait for my name to be called. The officer was very nice and more friendly than others I've encountered during this journey. I thought it interesting to see my Alien file in front of him with everything I have submitted from AOS through lifting conditions to now the N-400 - so much paperwork!

After returning to the waiting area my name was finally called and I was given a paper with the date and time for the oath ceremony. In Houston they do a big ceremony once a month - we had 2300 new citizens plus family members. Tip - be there early or be prepared to be creative on where to park. There is a big open area on the North parking lot for the facility - people start parking in the middle of that later in the morning.

Oath scheduled, do not know the date yet as that we will only know from the mailed letter.

From oath trends for this area, I think it will be 4th of July (they do a big ceremony about it here). But who knows ....

OK, so I sent an inquiry due to the application being out of the processing time, and I received a letter in mail yesterday saying : "your application is pending consideration,unfortunately we cannot give you any time frame to process your application" and then asked me if it was helpful!

This would probably be a good time to reach out to your US Representative's local office and request assistance. They have full-time Staff who deal with immigration issues. Bureaucrats tend to become 'motivated' when the keepers of the Federal checkbook begin to make inquiries,
