Thanks Kash2011! Just got out of 500 Pearl St courthouse. 158 people from 48 countries! Good luck to all those still waiting for their oath ceremony!

For NYC filers: Got to courthouse at 9:55am for a 10am requested arrival and waited 15 minutes to go through security. You must turn off you phone and relinquish to security officer as you enter the courthouse (all electronics will be confiscated). Processing is done on a first come first serve basis. By 11:05 all processing was finished. We are allowed to go to the cafeteria until 11am if processing finishes early. We waited for the judge and at 12 we had a 15 minute ceremony. The speech was very emotional and so was the pledge of allegiance. Once the ceremony is over they hand out the certificates one by one (order seemed random). Once you have your certificate you are free to go. Voting registration was right at the exit. I was out by 12:30 even after voting registration. 2.5 hours was well inside my 4 hour expectation.

Congratulations! 2.5 hours is a very quick time! We were about an hour longer.

It is encouraging to read about all of the success at interviews and same day oath ceremonies!

Yesterday, I neglected to mention that there were 77 oath takers from 33 countries at Olga's Oath Ceremony.

Footnote: Our 14 year old son acquired citizenship yesterday through Olga. One of his wishes was to become an Eagle Scout as an American citizen. His earliest eligibility date for earning Eagle Scout is about two weeks from now. He is quite pleased and proud to be a citizen and very excited that he WILL achieve Eagle Scout as a US Citizen. Sometimes, dreams do come true. :)

I'm seeing more and more red on this page! I've got two weeks to go, and have been getting excited about actually being able to vote. I have not been able to vote in any election anywhere in the world for the last 15 years, and am really out of the loop on US politics.

So, for me and all of you, I whipped up an online quiz. Forgive the bare-bones look. I took nearly bill proposed to the house from 2005-2014 and threw it into a database. Every time you load the quiz page, you get a random bill and have to guess if it was sponsored by a Democrat or Republican (I threw out the ~500 bills sponsored by independent representatives).

I'm learning that, apart from the obvious hot-button issues, I have trouble figuring out which party is responsible for what! But I've got until November 8 to figure it all out.

State Department is on the ball...applied for my Passport on 12/23 and received it yesterday in the mail...just waiting on the Passport card and my Certificate an I'll have the whole process behind me. Congrats to all that have had their Oath and good luck and a speedy process to all that are still waiting!

State Department is on the ball...applied for my Passport on 12/23 and received it yesterday in the mail...just waiting on the Passport card and my Certificate an I'll have the whole process behind me. That is a quick turn around time. Did you expedite? Or was that standard processing?

We are going to submit the passport apps for Olga and the munchkin tomorrow.

That was standard processing, really surprised me as the normal time is 4 to 6 weeks.
