My interview seemed to go okay in Boston: I was 'approved' and received the N-652 form, so now I just wait. No update on the USCIS website yet (it's still on the 'scheduled interview' stage') but I imagine that's not always instant.

One thing, though; when the person interviewing me went through my form and read out my S.S.N. it didn't sound quite right. I can't even remember why not; it might have simply been her accent, how she said the numbers compared to how I say them, the fact I wasn't expecting to hear them at that point, etc, but instead of asking her to repeat (which I should have done) I just sort of said aloud my number (how I say it) so she could 'know' if it didn't match, and we carried on. I have no way to check if it's correct because, in a silly way, I didn't make a copy of the form (or I should type I did, but purposely didn't save that one part because of privacy!).

I doubt there's an actual issue and it's more-than-likely correct, but for argument's sake, if the S.S.N. was actually not correct would I find this out before any oath ceremony? I have visions I'll get my certificate, etc and then, maybe years later, this becomes a problem.

I did my interview this morning and I believe it went well. I was scheduled for 8am; I arrived at the office at 7:50 since I lived 7 minutes from the USCIS office. I went through the normal security screening and I was instructed to go upstairs. I gave the receptionist my interview notice, she instructed me to have a seat in the lobby and wait for my name to be called. Exactly at 8:30am my name was called, the IO was very polite and friendly. I was sworn in; she then asked for my Texas DL and GC. I told her that I do not have my TX DL since I just moved here in April, but I have my DL from the previous State I was living in. She accepted it, then proceeded to go over the application.

Afterwards, she began with the reading and writing portion of the testing. I read "Who lives in the White House?" and then I write "The President lives in the White House." I was asked six questions:

  1. Who is the Governor of your State?
  2. What movement tried to end racial discrimination?
  3. Where is the Statue of Liberty?
  4. Name two national U.S. holidays
  5. Who was the first President?
  6. What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?

She said congratulations, you passed. However, I was disheartened because I was not approved on the spot. I asked her why, she said that they going to do another background check just to make sure that everything is good. She said that they do not approved on the spot anymore, but my gut was telling otherwise; I even asked about the same day oath ceremony and she gave the same response. I am not sure if that is her way of doing things or Field Office way of doing things. She said that I should hear something back within 3 weeks  So, just when I thought that my journey was going to be over soon, it does not look that way at all even though I am staying optimistic. Knowing the person that I am, I began to review in my head what could've caused the approval on the spot and I believe it is the DL (Driver's License) not being changed to the State that I now reside in.

I want to wish everyone the BEST.

I felt the same way after my interview since I know NYC approves on the spot. Although the two weeks waiting for the approval confirmation was painful I ultimately got it. It may just be the way that officer operates so don't be discouraged! Good luck and I hope you hear back soon with some good news.

What did she check off on the N-652 form?? Decision can not yet be made? A supervisor will probably re-check your file and make a final decision!

Kash,

Yes, she checked off "Decision can not yet be made"

I hope they do.......I still think that because I did not change over my DL is the ultimate factor as to why I did not get the "on the spot" approval.

Don't be discouraged. You will get your decision in a week or so. Who knows, the website might change in the afternoon or Monday. It could be worse like my situation. My interview was scheduled on November 13th and it was cancelled the day before and I was told to wait for a new notice. Still waiting. I have an international trip coming up in Dec and I was hoping to have completed this by then but oh well...here I am. So trust me, you are in a better position so you will be okay.

Mananto,

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I will remain optimistic that everything will work out for you and I. I too have an international trip in January.

I had my interview today and was approved :)

I arrived about 30 minutes early and didn't get called back until 10 minutes after my appointment time. The officer was polite but very serious and that didn't help my nerves any. He swore me in, took my GC, driver's license and social security card. He then made me read a sentence "Which state has the most people?" and then he asked me to write down "California has the most people" I wish I could remember the civic questions but I was such a ball of nerves that I vaguely remembered some of them. He then went through my complete application and had me sign a few forms and then told me I was approved:)

The officer told me I should get my Oath letter in about 30 days but I previously heard an officer tell another applicant out in the waiting room that there is an Oath on December 11th and he said that most people approved today should make it for that ceremony. Fingers crossed! I really hope to be able to be done with this whole process by the end of the year.

Good luck to everyone still waiting:) It's so so hard to be patient when you've been patient for so long

L got his oath letter today!

Also, I noticed that some people were using red fonts for non-citizenship stuff, and I updated those to be blue :)

From this moment on, I am officially a US CITIZEN!

The long immigration journey might be over but for sure it starts another series of life full of challenging endeavors and opportunities which we will encounter in our everyday living as a citizen of this country. I am so grateful that I've been a part of this family. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who in one way or another helped a lot in making this journey worthwhile.

Congratulations to all of those who have had successfully completed the journey as well, and best of luck to all that are still waiting!

We just received a txt message that we have been moved to 'In Line' for an interview. Guess we are moving more slowly in the process. Can someone change our In Line date please? 11/16/15

Sigh...

Yay. At least it is movement so you know that you're not forgotten. I feel sometimes that some of us fall into a black hole and our files just disappear on someones desk for a few weeks, months or even years. :( Hang in there. you're not alone in your frustration.
