N400applicant, it looks like you and I are in the same boat. I hoped that USCIS had inserted some common sense since my GC fiasco but it looks like they are taking their sweet time still. My case is pretty straight forward and there should be no questions. However, if there are, I still don't understand why USCIS doesn't just call in the applicants and ask about any discrepancies. We all know that they do a horrible job on research and background checks. Many of the delays could be resolved in 5 minutes by talking to the applicant and realizing that they are not the person who has a bajillion arrest warrants out in their name or whatever it is that is delaying things.

What's even more frustrating is that if this happened for the GC portion of the process, you would think that they would simply go back to what was done at that time and move forward. But that would be too logical. :)

Here is to a quick resolution of our cases (and anybody else in USCIS limbo)!

The only way to fix this is a political action. Voice your opinion, make it heard loud and everywhere. Make this a real political issue and have Senators and Congressmen, as well as Executive branch, solve it. Be part of the Political process. You want to be American Citizen, don't you? Act like one!

Political Power is greatest of all powers. Word is the most powerful of the tools and it can bend the iron.

Those who do this to us know the power of politics and use it against us. Why can't we use it to defend us?

Answer to all the issues we face in life is the Politics. We have to become engaged, active, civic participants in our country and make our voices heard clear and loud. We are the parents of the next generation Americans! We will not stay quite while this is being done to us.

Think along those lines. if we had 1% of immigrats think like it we would be a political power to reckon with. And anti-immigrant politics that are in effect now would change a great deal then.

First Amendment and separation of Church from State has a lot more to it than most of our contemporaries realize.

The truth is, the Pilgrims were Puritan fascists who were only looking for their
own
religious freedom. They were too ... independent and fanatical even for the more mainstream zealots of English and European Reformations. They called themselves “Puritans” because they were dedicated to
purifying
the Church of England of Roman influences. They
hated
Rome and they
hated
heretics, and they
hated
sinners and they really hated
witches
. Their reigning English King, James I was also a foaming Protestant Scottish witch hunter, and was every bit as fanatical as the Pilgrims were, since they were all theological soul mates. But James I actually had to sophisticate himself a bit, particularly stifling his witch-hating fanaticism when he took power in England. He had to accommodate the more moderate and educated Protestantism that then still held great sway in his English Court and Parliament. This social moderation at home however, didn’t slow him from encouraging the exportation of sharp, Puritan zeal to his growing colonies in the New World though, where raw Puritanism would be free to dominate the new society he intended to found there.

I say with very little exaggeration, that living under Puritan rule in the New England American Colonies would be nearly as religiously oppressive as living under the Taliban in Afghanistan, or Wahhabi ruled Saudi Arabia. The principle difference between Sharia Law and Pilgrim Law would be that the Pilgrims let women show

their whole faces in public. the Puritans in particular on the other hand, weren’t all that put off by the Inquisition’s tactics or even goals in and of themselves. The Puritans and many other Reformers in truth just wanted the Inquisitional zeal applied unilaterally up and down the Church ranks from clergy to commoner. They just didn’t think you should be able to buy or politic your way out of being tortured into a confession of heresy. They figured that kings, Popes and bishops and priests were just as good candidates for heresy as anyone else—the more the merrier. Puritans in short, actually wanted
more
repression and
more
micromanaging of the Body of Christ. They wanted the power to institute the same sort of fanatical purification of Christendom that the Inquisition only
pretended
to enforce, and then only selectively, often for personal, social, or political reasons. The Puritans wanted their newly cleansed Protestant Inquistition to be
universally
applied to all Christians of whatever rank. The Puritans wanted
everyone
to be beaten into piety whatever his station in the Church or society– they just wanted to insure it was being done fairly and correctly by a dictatorial theocracy of their
own
design.We read about the Salem Witch trials, some decades after the Pilgrims landed, and think that hanging nineteen men and women as witches on the say-so of a couple of snotty little girls looking for attention was a fluke carried out by an isolated, small group of inbred fanatics. We think the old man they crushed under stones for refusing to submit to their trials was the result of some abnormal paranoia due to the bunker mentality of a pioneer colony in a harsh new land. When we read about the dozens of fellow colonists they just let rot in jail for months as they queued them up for their American Inquisition, we assume that this sort of fiendish treatment had to be the product of some sort of atypical mass mental illness brought about through a bad diet and not enough sunlight. But no,
that’s what Puritans did

Interview done and passed.

Got there an hour early, but security let us in. Checked-in my interview letter and been told to wait for my name to be called. I thought it was a good idea to be in early, thinking I can get done early as well, but it was not. My appointment is at 12pm, my name was called 45 minutes later. There were at least a dozen people ahead of me and there were people walked in later but been interviewed first because they have earlier appointments. They did go by appointment time not first come, first serve basis. A middle-aged man called my name and asked "How are you doing today?" , I said "Good, but nervous." He asked me to follow him and remain standing after we get into his office "to take an oath". Then he motioned me to take a seat while asking for my GC, passport and driver's license (if I have any). Handed them to him and he said "Well, we'll do the civics test first, have been studying?" I said "Yeah, I want to passed." He then took a piece of paper in front of a stack of paper works, ( which I guess all my documents from K1, AOS, ROC and N-400 app. on the very top) which approximately 2 inches thick. He said, " There are 10 questions, but I'm going to ask you 6 if you get all right." I answered all the 6 questions : 1. What did the Declaration of Independence do? I gave all 3 answers , He said " Good answer."

2. Name one branch/part of the government.

3. We elect US senator for how many years?

4. What does the President's Cabinet do?

5. If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

6. How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

He wrote down all the answers on the paper while asking questions, and in between question and answer he is checking my application. He then gave me a another piece of paper with sentences/questions and told me to read - When is Columbus Day? then he handed me another piece of paper to write down, Columbus Day is in October. I'm still nervous can't even write legibly, he said it's alright as long as he can read it. He then told me "Congratulations, you passed."

He went over my whole application, asked about where I live, my home/daytime phone ( which I messed up, forgot what's our home phone #, LOL) , my cellphone #, my workplace/job, about my husband, and my kids. He then go over the YES/NO portion and told me to signed and dated the last part of the application and I also signed the 2 passport pictures sent with the application.

After he went over the whole application he said "CONGRATULATIONS, you will be a citizen after your oath ceremony. You will receive a notice 30 days from now." He then printed something from his computer and showed it to me to see if all the informations are correct for the naturalization certificate. He handed me a piece of paper showing that I passed and been approved for citizenship. He asked me if I have any questions I said none, he just then shook my hand.

The whole interview took at least 20 minutes, it's the wait to be interviewed that took forever. I am so grateful to be a part of the visa journey family, I know it's not over yet, but I'm glad the hardest part was done. For those who are still waiting for their interviews don't stressed out so much, just take it easy. Best of luck to you all.
