Hi all,

My USC husband does not have the NSO certified birth certificate. Is it okay to submit the non-certified birth certificate for the Report of Marriage? We will be going to the Los Angeles embassy. Do they need that or can he just show his US passport instead since 'technically' he is no longer a Filipino?

Thank you so much!!

He has the old version just printed in a white bond paper.. not the kind that NSO uses now..

what do you mean non-certified birth certificate? what kind does he have?

He has the old version just printed in a white bond paper.. not the kind that NSO uses now.. At the top it also says " Certificate of Live Birth"

IMO, that BC that your husband has should be enough. Just have to provide additional proof of his citizenship.

To be safe, shoot an email to registry.pcgenla@gmail.com and ask them what you should do. That's the registry section for the LA consulate. I originally emailed them at losangelespcg@earthlink.net but they redirected me to the gmail one. No one ever picks up the phone over there lol

Consulate asks for a certified/true copy of birth certificate for the USC. If your husband was born in the Philippines you can get a copy of his BC through e-census

His birth certificate says certified by a local civil registry.. it is an original copy.. it's just not from NSO.. I hope that is okay too? We are planning to go next week

You can also message the Phil. Consulate LA thru Facebook messenger. That's how I communicated with them.

Okay.. I just sent them a message via FB messenger and gmail. Hopefully someone will get back to us so we won't waste a trip to LA if his copy of birth certificate is unacceptable.. Thank you apple21!!!

Hi Hank, just want to update you that my USC husband's birth certificate was returned to me. Instead, the officer took copies of his Naturalization Certificate.
