I was wondering if anyone else has ever received the letter from the NVC stating they received an approved petition before receiving their NOA2. According to USCIS (both the website and by phone), they have not decided my case but I received a letter from the NVC dated 2/17/06 that they received an approved petition.

When I called the USCIS today (I have called several times but no one before said they could help me), they told me they would look into it and not to call back for 30 days. Of course, during this time, my Fiancee has received and completed packet 3 and the Consulate in Rio has received them and will assign an interview date in the next few weeks.

I feel that someone made a mistake but there is nothing I can do about it. Each operator I talked to tells me that they have no idea what happened. Does anyone have any suggests I what I can do? I am not very good at this wait and we will get back to you thing.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Craig,

My wife is in the same situation - the USCIS Online Status says that a decision on my I-129f is pending and I have not received an Approval Notice. Calling the USCIS Misinformation line gets the same information that is available from Online Status - I think there's a reason for that ......

Even so, the NVC sent me a letter that they had the approved petition more than two years ago, the consulate issued my wife a visa, and the USCIS approved her application to adjust status early last summer.

Can you guess how much faith I put in the Online Status and the National Customer [Dis]Service Center?

I guess my main concern (besides the fact that the people I talked to at USCIS have no idea what is going on) is will I need a copy of the NOA2 for the interview? I intent to go to Rio for the interview and I just want to make sure that I have all the required documents.

I have to assume the petition has been approved because I have a case number and it is in Rio. I realize everything moved quickly thru the VSC (and I feel for the poeple that wait months and months) but I still would like to have that NOA2.

Update.

I just received a phone call from USCIS (still in shock they called) to confirm that my petition was approved and sent to the NVC without anyone updating the computer. I should expect to receive the NOA2 in 2-4 weeks. I will feel better once it is in my hands but at least this is something besides "I am not sure what happened"

Thanks
