If your life here in america will be so bad because of the stupid americans then why dont you move to the ME/NA... they seem to hate americans as much as SOME americans fear people from ME/NA..

There is good and bad on both sides... yes the bomb comment was stupid... when I hear stupid comments about me or where I am from I just think to myself "wow how dumb can a person be" and then forget it...

If you look hard enough you will find discrimination everywhere you look... if you want to be a victim then let it bother you if you dont want to be a victim then let it go and move on...

No, I don't agree that things are worse than before. People have been saying disgusting things to my Semitic face and that of my family and friends ever since I can remember, sometimes because they assumed we were Jewish. I didn't discover the MENA, I was born into it, and I blame no one for that.

What I will say is that there are more Arabs in the US than before, and there is more attention paid to incidents involving Arabs and Muslims than there was before. There has been a surge of immigration from Arab countries since the 1970s and with that came more visibility. I have been among those who hoped that when something big happened, like a plane highjacking or the Oklahoma bombing, that it wasn't an Arab or Muslim involved in it because the blowback came on us. Believe what you want, but those of us who have been here for close to a century know that this isn't about Bush.

Maybe I should be more clear on my point...Of course Arabs were being discriminated aganist before 9/11 but you must agree that things are much worse now then ever before..whereas people may have thought about saying things before but never did...now think it is ok to say things...with that being said I do blame the current administration for the widespread fear and sterotyping that is going on right now...I can tell you this in my own experience...15 years ago the word Terrorists and MENA did not go hand in hand in my mind or anybody else I know like it does now (circa 2001 until now)..the difference between me and other people I know NOW is I took the time to find out the truth from fiction whereas most people I know still think that everyone from MENA is a terrorist or affiliatetd with such...Which is very sad...
Blame Bush? Don't bother. I was born Arab in the US in 1953. I can tell you from experience that what he has experienced is nothing new. We have been the misunderstood "other" for a long time. 9/11 didn't help, but fear and loathing is nothing new.

Check out Paul Findley's book "Silent No More" for pre-Bush, pre-9/11 incidents of discrimination against Arabs and Muslims.
