Yes, same here, I needed to wait for my EAD ino order to change my name on SSN. And when I finally got my EAD and went to SSA office, they told me that I have to wait 4 weeks to receive my new SSC. 3 weeks and still waiting...

And just to clarify, did you have a ssn prior to getting married or was this the first time?

I had no issue with changing my name on my ssc. I went to SSA on Edsel Road in Alexandria with my marriage certificate and old social security card. It was even before I sent my AOS paperwork out. I told them "I am here to change my name" Within a week I received my new ssc with my married name on it.

i'm so confused.. the guide states to apply for SSC, but SSI tells us that we need to receive AOS approval prior to submitting for SS Application?

Do we have to file AOS first? or EAD? what's the next step?

1) apply for AOS and EAD (together, follow the guide)

2) get approved EAD

3) apply SSN
