Translation service in Moscow

Does anybody have a recommendation for where we can get the police report and birth certificate translated and notarized in Moscow. (We know we can possibly translate it ourselves and/or not have it notarized but feel more confident about doing it this way.) We also hope to find someplace with same-day service. Thanks.

Unless its unique to Russia a notary isn't required. The ' certification ' is simply a statement by the author that they are competent in both languages.

It's not unique, there is no need in notary, you're right. If you want to make it more fancy, many translation services will also gladly put their company seal on the document stating that interpreter is working professionally but even that is not necessary.

I don't see a reason to look around a lot, English is the most common language to translate Russian documents to and such things like birth certificate and police report are pretty standart. I'm sure any decent company will do a good job. If you want to play safer you may ask over the phone if translator is a member of "Union of Translators of Russia", it's a little bit more of assurance that this translator has decent experience and good knowledge.
