#1 Hi! I received a package 2 months ago (Dec. 2006). NVC wanted me to finish the AoS form and send it including the supporting documents. I was told that I have to notarized the documents before sending it. But I read the instructions like 5 times and never mention anything about notarizing documents. Should I notarize my supporting documents including AoS or not?

#2 My other question is... My wife has been waiting for packet 4 for almost 1 month now. I was wondering if the cause of the delay was the part where I have to send the AoS. The reason why I could not send the AoS, is because I have to wait for my W2 form to file my Tax Return, so I can include it as my supporting documents. Would that be the cause of the delay?

Thanks to all the people who will answer my questions. :)

First of all we need to clarify what process you are going through, it sounds like you're pursuing and IR/CR1 visa based on an I130 petition - please fill in your timeline it helps others, especially when you ask questions :)

Until your case is complete at the NVC your wife will not receive anything. I'm afraid you've caused yourself a big delay by waiting to file taxes for this year, that is unless you did not have any income to show for prior years and had no other choice. But until you get the I864 to the NVC, they cannot complete your case and forward it to the appropriate consulate to interview your wife.

Are you also pursuing a K3 visa?

Finally, depending on which consulate you are going through, it differs what you are required to send. If you are required to submit a marriage certificate and birth certificate to the NVC, those must be official certified copies, only official documents need to be certified, but not everything.

I recommend that you read the NVC Timesavers Thread pinned at the top of the NVC forum and the NVC Flowchart in the guides to help familiarize yourself with the process. Also VJ member randynrose has created a website with a section devoted to the visa journey for people going through the Philipines.

Good luck with everything.

Sandy
