A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I got married and Dont know the forms I should send, please help!

You should probably start by reading the guides, there is a lot of information there.

If you have questions, we are more than happy to help.

You might also want to review the topics and see if anything is relevant to your case.

We would need a bit more information in order to help you out.

Are you the U.S. citizen or the foreign alien?

What kind of Visa did you (or your partner) enter the U.S. with?

If you are applying for Adjustment of Status, then you should read the "Guides" to get an idea of what is required of you. If you have any questions after reading the Guides, then feel free to ask. The AOS process is a bit too detailed to give you the whole process without you first having some knowledge of how it works.

Welcome to VJ by the way and we hope to see you visit here often.

I think the best way for you is to spend couple days on this website and read through everything to have an idea what you are going to do. My wife is from Rio and that's what we did. I started from the guide section of this website, and then I downloaded the forms from the Immigration website. And then I read through all the forms 4 TIMES to understand what they want. And then I filled out the forms, collected data and information. After one month, I sent out everything!

 hello ,

I am new here and I just got started with our papers, I live in mass, where should I start??? how should I do this???

PLease heeeellllllppppppppp!!!!

Isabela, bem-vinda ao VJ!

Do what these nice people told you, but if you need a step by step help, you're going to have to give us more details. You said you already got married, many people on this site start with a fiance visa (not my case though). Were you here in the US when you married? what kind of visa did you have when you got married? tourist? k-1? other?

You are going to have to do a lot of reading, just as fruto123 said. However, it is not that hard, you just need to fill out the correct forms. But in order for us to tell you which ones to fill out (trust me, there are tons of forms out there), you need to tell us more about your situation. If you'd like to, go to the Brasileiritchas thread, where you'll find people from Brazil who went through either the K-1 process (fiance visa) or people like me, who married on a tourist visa. We'd be glad to help you in Portuguese, if you're more comfortable with that than English.

Best,

Vanessa

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008
