After numerous phone calls yesterday my husband and I are very frustrated with USCIS, not one of them has a clue to what immigration is, we have a case number that does not exist for them, which happens to be my case number, my daughter's is in the system and we have received an NO1 for her but nothing for me because of this case number.

First of all we were informed that the case number needs to be changed and they gave me a phone number for Debt Management which I phoned and was told NOOOOOOO they do not deal with case numbers at all, they suggested that I ring back USCIS and explain all this to them again.

I did as advised and was told that I had a case pending with Adjustment of Status, this I had to explain was not true and to please remove it, they said no they could not do this and that my husband had to call them to answer a few questions, he phoned them and was told that they could not find anything about an a Adjustment of Status, this is all very frustrating for us.

I did something about it alright I E-mailed the Vice President explaining the situation and that his government officials were not knowledgeable at all about the immigration process and to please look into our case. I know I know it was a whim of mine and to be honest I know that nothing will be done but hey if you dont try then you will never know.

one very frustrated Brit

I dont really mean to make this sound condescending but I think you probably should have chosen another politician to write to other than the only politician to have voted against punishing South Africa during aparteid  . I really cant think of any other politician as anti-immigrant as he is  .

If i were you I would write someone else like the chiarman/woman of the subcommittee on imigration. Someone said that the representative from San Jose is the head of that sub-committee. She's a democrat and you might actually have a chance with her.

Janice, have you tried looking at the back of the online cancelled check to discern the case number?

Yes Rebeccajo, the two case numbers are there, both start with WAC, Jon has even printed of a copy from the Washington Mutual Bank site.

Is that the way it works for a child following the adult with CR1? Same case number.

I know very little about CR1.

You have my sympathy - we can't even get NOA1 after 6 weeks trying and an application that has traveled 20 thousand miles (it's a bit crumpled).. nobody will talk to us and when they do its all wrong and wastes another month..

We haven't even started yet really so the rest of the process will be hell on earth

Nope Rebeccajo, same cheque, we paid $380.00 but two different case numbers on the back of the cheque. The amount for the I-130 is $190.00 each. Jon again phoned USCIS and was told not to worry that there is a glitch in the system. Worry who's worrying :wacko::angry:

Maybe if they don't sort it out in the next couple of days, your husband could schedule an infopass appointment.

Good luck!!!
