We mailed our I-129F to Nebraska on Feb. 1, and according to the post office, it was delivered on Feb. 6. But we haven't received an NOA1, and the cheque hasn't been cashed either. Other people who filed on the same day or after us received their NOA1 well before now.

How long do we wait before trying to find out what happened? And how do we look into this? Without the NOA1, we don't have a file number to ask about. Also, the contact information at the USCIS site says that they can't provide information about the status of cases.

Thanks for your help.

One of the VJers here didn't receive NOA1 but got approved and received the NOA2 in the mail... The problem with yours, your check hasn't been encashed since then so that means something is really wrong... Did you get a receipt from whatever mail service you used to inform you that it reached the service center? Maybe you should check with the postal service?

In my opinion its way too soon to worry. If the Post office says it was delivered on the 6th, it has only been 2 weeks now. USCIS does not work that quickly. You may see the lucky ones on VJ post that they go it so soon but the rest of us have to wait.

When you say other people on the same day, do you mean others who filed with Nebraska? Nebraska & Texas transfers all the I-129F petitions to California...

Mine was received at NSC Dec. 26 .. forwarded to CSC and according to the USCIS website, my NOA-1 was mailed on Jan. 8. It may take a while with President's Day and Lincoln's Birthday in there as well. Good luck and patience is a virtue.

Thanks for the responses. We sent it by regular mail with a delivery receipt requested through the PO. It was delivered on Feb. 6 (or maybe Feb 5; I don't remember), but no signature was required. The cheque ("check" to the Americans) has not been cashed. In the February filers thread, people who mailed their I-129F after us have received NOA1s and/or had their cheques cashed.

I've sent a new G-325A and a new Letter of Intent to my fiance so that he can send originals if he has to resend the package. I wish I'd thought of sending him 2 originals of each before, but it's too late for that now. I sent him 2 originals this time.

If neither the cheque has been cashed nor the NOA1 received by the time my latest originals reach him (sometime next week), we'll probably resend the package, this time with a signature required for delivery.

I wouldn't start worrying quite yet. Reception on the 6th of February to today, the 22nd, is only 12 business days. Give it another week and then start sweating.

They will send the NOA1 when they cash the check. As soon as they cash it, you'll also be able to see your case number on the back of your check. ;)

Good luck and relax :)

We sent our I-130 in on December 4th using priority mail to the TSC. Our check cleared our bank account on the 15th and I believe they received our petition on the 12th. However, we never received a NOA1 in the mail and still haven't to this day. We called USCIS after about three weeks of not having received the NOA1 and they informed us that the case number is stamped on the back of the cashed check. We could not read the number on the back of the check, but the immigration officer on the phone was able to look up our names and tell us the exact case number.

I guess the NOA's get lost sometimes. But give it some more time to see if your check clears. Thats the important thing.
