My fiance just received his visa and arrived here in the U.S. yesterday. We are planning a September wedding so we can't send the AOS packet off until after the wedding. I have read where you can electronically file for employment authorization for people here on a K1 visa. Has anyone done that? Does it cause any problems to do it that way? I realize you have to pay an extra fee if you file it separately as opposed to waiting and sending it with the AOS packet. Just trying to figure out what step we want to take next.

that ead, gotten that way, might arrive 60 to 84 days after applying for it, and expires when the I-94 expires, at day 90 past the poe date.

would it really be that useful for you two?

if you just need a SSN, those are free to chase, apply in visa name 2 days after the POE date.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank you for the response. That was what I didn't know, how long the authorization would be good for. If it's only good for 90 days, that would not be helpful. We will just wait and send all paperwork in at one time, save $380!
