My fiancee finally got here and we married last week, and so far wedded life is bliss. We just started checking through all the paperwork and getting a little freaked out. More forms!!! We are about to leave, drive across the country to visit a few people, and then are thinking about settling in Denver and looking for work. I quit my job here a few weeks ago.

So my question is this: should we wait to file for AOS until I have a job and we have a more permanent address?

Can the interview take place wherever you happen to be? Or if we filed with this address would the interview be here?

Would it be best if we turned in everything as quickly as possible, despite being unemployed?

Thanks for any answers!

you should definitely fill when you have a permanent address...

Thanks, notsceneenough! But one thing I didn't mention is that I'm staying with a relative right now and they can forward everything to me easily. Is losing mail the main reason to wait for a permanent address, or is there another reason, like having the interview where you actually live?

You can use your relative address at the moment, then change to your new address later. In that way, the mail will be delivered to you without lost even if they mistakenly deliver mail to your previous address.

When you move, be SURE you file the AR-11 change of address form (the non USC does this). If you have not yet filed for AOS this is all you do, if you have filed for AOS before you move the sponsor (the spouse of the USC) also needs to file the I-865 (sponsors notice of change of address, goes along with the I864) as well as call the 1800 number to tell them you're moving.
