You keep posting on the popularity of guns but dead center of this article it states gun sales have flatlined. Oops!

I had plenty of kids coming to my high school with shotguns and rifles in back window racks of their cars and trucks during school hours. But dude this is not the 80's and while teaching gun safety is a good thing, I think that there are valid concerns about kids (really anyone but especially kids) and guns today.

Background checks for gun sales spiked 11% in June compared to last year, making it the busiest June ever, according to the FBI's background check data.

Last month the FBI conducted nearly 1.53 million background checks, which are required for all in-store purchases, but not for sales at gun shows or between individuals. That's the highest volume of checks in June since 1999, when the FBI started keeping track.

Gun background checks have climbed annually since 2003 with the exception of just three years, one of which was 2014, indicating a clear jump in gun sales.

Michael Bazinet, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun industry group, said the increase is driven in part by the influx of more women and first-time gun owners into the market

Did the article say gun sales are down? I read that they are beginning to level off from a recent spike. That would imply they are not down. Instead their rate of growth is down.

This is not really a germane issue. There are differences between how I phrased the statement in response to the OP and your clarification of the exact wording, since no hard numbers were involved in either, my general statement that the OP indicated that gun sales were down and the real and semantic differentiation you pointed out betwixt the two are pretty much meaningless. Except of course for trying to salvage Losts bacon.
