Hey guys! Im new on here and just found out there is a whole thread on July filers! Yay! :)

So here is my timeline:

Adjusting from F-1 (OPT more specifically) through marriage to USC.

July 27, 2015 - sent in, next day delivered to Chicago lockbox.

August 4, 2015 - NOA received for all forms

...

You are welcome to the July thread, but technically the case goes by the NOA1 date, so you might want to check out the August filers' thread as well.

I was wondering how do you set up e-mil and text updates? Was it something you check off on the forms?

The G-1145 forms can be attached to each of your applications/petitions to request the email and/or text updates. More here: http://www.uscis.gov/g-1145. If you didn't do that at the time of filing, however, I am not sure you can add these notification requests after the fact.

And also I have read that somehow you can request to be able to see how many times the case was handled.

What you can do is create an account at USCIS's website and look there every once in a while. (Or just look up your cases by number without creating an account.)

Or maybe I should just try my best to relax since all the things seem on track. Hope to get a date soon! Good luck everyone in the waiting boat and congratulations to all who has already passed!

Yes, most of all, you should relax and go about your life. In the end, it's a bit unpredictable when exactly you'll hear for your interview, so it's best not to obsess about it on a daily basis unless an inordinate amount of time has passed. You're good for the moment.

Best of luck!

First thing this morning, I got the email and text notifications that our interview has been scheduled for December 7th!

This should be at the Buffalo office. (I assume; we have a closer site in Syracuse too, but it is very new and does not appear on the USCIS's list of processing times, so I am guessing they don't actually hold interviews there, although that is where my biometrics appointment was. I will have to wait and get the hard-copy letter with the full details and will post here again when this is 100% clear.)

You can imagine my husband and I were excited to get this development! Fingers crossed for all the rest of the members of our thread waiting for their next step. It'll come. :)

Just to confirm, now that we got the interview notice in the mail as well, that our 12/7 AOS interview is actually in Buffalo, as anticipated.

The next few weekends will be spent getting our ducks (documents) in a row!

5 weeks since our interview, and I have not heard anything from USCIS. I will be making my first infopass next week, 6 weeks after the interview, as advised by the immigration officer. I hope this won't be one of the cases where we stay in limbo for a year or more....

Medicalguy, asking for info via Infopass seems reasonable at this point. Good luck and keep us posted when you hear back!

Did my first info pass. Had to drive a total of 8 hours back and for to reach the nearest office that I can do the infopass at. The officer just pulled up her computer, and checked the status of the application, and said that it is still waiting on files from another agency, most likely the Department of State for my J1. I asked her to email my interviewing officer just to be sure. The officer suggested to do another infopass in 30 days. And that was that, 5 minutes.

I don't understand why we can't do these kinds of things over the phone. Banks can verify you over the phone all the time. Had to lose a whole day of work and 8 hours of driving for what was essentially an internal 2 minute status check.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello everyone! After a very long night at work I came home to a wonderful email from USCIS: my interview has been scheduled for December 1st in Buffalo, NY!

@neuroticbell & spouse -- I just remembered you guys have your interview today! Hopefully you get a conclusive positive result as soon as possible! Sending best wishes your way and please keep us all on the thread posted about how it went.

Just got out of the interview. My IO was extremely nice and on my marriage being legit part everything was ok and he was ready to approve us. Than something came up on my J1 and I might be looking at a possible denial. He wouldn't say exactly what alarmed him but he did make my husband step out while he asked me a million questions about my J1. Than finally he said that something in the case wasn't adding up and it looked like I applied for a student visa not a work visa (f1 not j1 which is what I had). That's all he would say. He tried to find his supervisor so he could give me an answer on the spot but the supervisor was on break. So the waiting starts. I don't even know how I feel right now, I just feel numb and wish for this to be over.

Congratulations! What a relief this must be. :joy:

I am also adjusting from J-1 (after earlier F-1s during my studies) and hopefully this does not cause confusion at our interview next Monday. (Between your first post today and POM's inconclusive experience also in Buffalo yesterday, I am getting more nervous than I was before.)

Honestly the IO was extremely friendly and told me he was gonna push for approval it's just he couldn't approve it without his supervisor because of the J1 confusion. I hope you get the same IO and I hope you get approved the same day!
