Couples Who Met Online

I know a large percentage of couples have met online, but I have not seen anyone mention that they were asked about this during their interview.

If you met your spouse or fiance online, were you asked about this during the interview? If so, what questions did they ask?

Thanks!

me too! It is an outstanding question. Are they harder on those of us that met on a world wide dating site?

Good question. Look forward to seeing those answers.

I've heard from other VJ members who have finished their journey that Immigration does not frown on couples who meet online. However, they are more concerned when couples were introduced by foreign relatives living in America. It seems that it is normal these days for couples to meet online.

It seems they also frown on couples who have only met once, met for a short period of time, and who get married young or quickly (according to them), right?

I have hired a BKK attorney and spoke to him about this. He said it is no problem and don't worry about it. If they do ask about this in the interview, just don't say you paid for a service. There are many ways to meet on-line besides hiring a introduction service....just remember that. I have heard that most interviewres don't even ask about this. If you really think about this, most couples do meet on-line. I hope this helps.

I was asked how we met, I said we met online. Then the officer asked where/how, and I told him (AOL Instant Messenger), then he asked when was the first time we met in person, etc...

It was no big deal.

Having met online seems to be the least issue of concern.... other reasons that have already been stated are far more concerning to immigration.

David and I never would have met if we'd relied on 'online' meeting... he hates computers and is actually quite proud that we did meet in person, in this day and age.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I agree. It seems that if you've been together for a short time and only had one visit, it raises questions. My fiancee and I haven't even been together a year yet. However, I'm planning a second trip for the first week of April. I wanted to go for the interview which will be in May or June but my work won't allow me.

Meeting online was not a problem, question might be asked about it, but only to extablish that you two have a relationship.

the only requirement is that you two meet once in the last two years (right?).

They dont care if you met online or how long you have known each other, some couples have know each other long time but dont communicate much, but many couples communicate thru emails chats, everyday.

prove that you two have meet, (lots of pics together). and that you two have an on going relationship.
