I got notification today that my approved petition has been sent to the NVC! I wonder how long before NVC receives it? Maybe i'll call on Thursday to see if they did.

Anyone know if case and IIN's are being assigned at 2-3 weeks or if it's taking longer?

Congrats. Nvc received my case on January 19th. I hope they assign at the end of this week. it's 2-3 weeks to assign case number. Most likely we will be moving forward together. Good luck to us

Hi everyone! For those of you who have completed the 864, how did you know which version to use? Some are pretty obvious (child, widow...) but how did you choose between the I-864 and I-864ez. I read the conditions for both and both seem applicable to us. Our situation: for a spouse, single sponsoring, income from being self-employed (with the usual properties such as a car/owner of house with mortgage). Can someone please help?

I called uscis and spoke to tier 2 officer last week and I was told that my case was sent to nvc. Then I called nvc to confirm if they received it they said yes it was received on January 19th. Hope to get case number soon.

Wow, it took 12 days for NVC to receive your petition. No sense of urgency. i was hoping they would receive my petition this week itself, but looks like it might be closer to next week instead. bummer. i'll still call them thursday night to see if they received it. :) I'm praying the horrible blizzard from last week didn't affect them to much...

Hahahaha.... That's a fact! After almost 6 months of waiting in the dark, these progression details are a big deal for us! Just knowing things are moving forward is something to celebrate. I know, realistically, there is more waiting to come, but at least we're not sitting still. wooohoooooooo!

i hope things will continue to pick up the pace.

I hope it didn't affect on mailing process since it was over the weekend. I'm gonna call them everyday moving forward now since it's been 7-8 days. I pray to get my case number before I go to India. My packages are almost ready. I am confused in 864 forms tho. I will have joint sponsor. If you have clear picture about it please let me know. I would appreciate it.

This may be a stupid question, but did you read the department of state website that explains it? If you are needing a joint sponsor then you won't be filling out the I-864EZ. So it's a matter of if you do the I-864 or the I-864W.

Oh yea I have been reading it..I just want to clarify about 864a since I have to show the relationship between me and sponsor. One of my friends told me that I will have to fill two forms proving the relationship between me- sponsor and spouse- sponsor. Other than that I'm clear with other documents.

Wooohoo...They should have it in about a week then you wait for them to assign your case number. Ours only took 15 days from the time NVC received our case. Give it about two weeks then start calling them!

Use the I-864EZ I am the only sponsor on our petition... my income only...and that is the one they say to use. If you are above the poverty line you actually don't have to put any assets. We are way above that so no assets are need to be on the form. You can if you want to just to ensure you are over the poverty guidelines. I don't have the link but there are instructions and it tells you if you can use the form I-864EZ or if you have to use the I-864.

Good luck on your journey.

I thought we can use I-864ez since it's a single sponsor case but self-employed individuals cannot use the ez form. It's mentioned in the instructions. What a bummer ?
