I called every 2 or 3 days, starting about 10 days after the NOA2.

It's so frustrating, because they say "please read paragraph 2 from your letter," that says up to 30 days or 35 or whatever it is, but you *know* from here that there are people whose file was received in 10 days or whatever! but anyway.

Some of the reps are very nice :) it must be hard to give people bad news so often.

Now I'm trying to wait until it's been 1 week before I start calling again for my case number  since it seems to be taking around 2 weeks in most cases.

It gets harder and harder to call NVC this days for twenty to thirty minutes of waiting period your conversation with them will only last for not even five mins. And now after they received the case which they said fr uscis will take 30-35 days took us two weeks now theyre constant line when asking for the case number and iin is to wait 42-45 days like wow! The difficulties on this stage i guess is the calling part lol always busy like argghhhh!

sorry for the noob question:

you are still supposed to get a confirmation by mail from NVC and a letter with the case number, right?

Thats what NVC told us but up to date we didnt receive no mail or email from NVC. We just called them thats how we came to know that they received it already.

It's frustrating! but I guess they have to over-estimate so people don't freak out even worse if it goes longer than what they think it will be.

I'm trying to look at it like, the longest it could take is 45 days, but chances are it will be less than that. If it's over 45 days, then there's a snafu somewhere. I'm hoping that it's only 10-15 days since that seems to be average right now, but I'll check after one week in case something goes fast for me, for a change

I think so, but everyone wants to try to expedite the process if they can, so they try to be proactive and save a few days here and there :)

It'll be easier for everyone of us if theres some sort of alternative on finding out if a case number and iin is already available, like online save them from answering and us for calling! Lol
