No good news The IO said his file had arrived and was awaiting review. She said to contact them again if we don't hear anything in 90 days... ugh! I just checked the case status online and it still says "interview is scheduled."

This feels ridiculous. I know Portland has a big back log, but I don't understand why this was taken to the back of the line. We filed his AOS 10 months ago!

Is there anything more I can do? USCIS still hasn't responded to congressperson's staffer's second inquiry. Is it possible the congressperson's office can advocate for my case to be sent further up the line?

Well, at least he has your file. Are you still concerned with traveling out of the country ?

Did you ask about emergency AP at the infopass, if it is a true emergency you can escalate for travel but not for

issuing the GC, though you can try.

Yeah I asked and she said no, and she gave us the AP form, which takes 90 days to process. Uuugh! So I guess we'll file that now in case this GC takes an eternity to adjudicate.

If the travel is about an illness of a family member or some kind of severe financial loss and you can prove it then they will expedited AP.

No, we don't have any kind of situation like that, which makes me think we can't file for an AP anyway. We don't have any "educational, employment, or humanitarian purposes" -- he just wants to visit his family.

Then you can still file AP and wait 60-90 days for approval should the GC issue go past that time. File with the NOA from the AOS and

you won't have to pay. Regular AP filing does not require an emergency for a reason.

I'm confused. The form says you need a specific purpose, e.g. to see a doctor or visit a sick relative (page 8).

Yes, I know but disregard it.

You can leave the questions blank and put unknown for travel dates.

So the lessons I learned from this experience:

1) Always file AP w/ AOS just in case, even if you don't have emergency reason. JUST DO IT.

2) Don't buy plane tickets before you have the GC in hand. JUST DON'T.

3) Infopass can get you what you want!!

We got married in December 2010 and applied for I-130/I-485 in April 2014!
We had the interview on October 2014. (Chicago)
The IO that interviewed us said that I've been approved for permanent resident card (being married with a USC more than 2 years) and I will receive the GC (permanent GC) within 2 weeks and after 3 years I could apply for US citizenship!
As I said that was in October 2014 !!!!!.

As of today we didn't hear nothing from them! No welcome letter, no GC.

We made a couple of online inquires, infopass appt, we hired a lawyer!
The lawyer told us that the IO that interviewed us has been transferred to the citizenship interviews department. (PERIOD)
The IO supervisor said that she will assign our file to other IO to adjudicate.
Still nothing yet as of July, 21st, 2015 !!!!
