I think you're tapping into a larger issue - the tabloidization of news. Determining whether something is newsworthy or not has been replaced by whatever will bring in the most viewership. Popularity over quality, and the general public eat it up like kids in a candy store until we're sick to our stomachs...then we find something else to be fixated on.

There's a whole industry built up on it too - all those celebrity news magazines. What makes me laugh is that The Insider does fluff features on intrusive media coverage, and yet they are the people who are buying the pictures...

I wonder how much are we really willing participants? The times that I've paid for satellite or cable TV a felt I should get a return on the investment by watching more. I can't wait when television programming will be completely on demand and free of commercials.

Oh...I was in Bank of America the other day trying to cash a check written from their bank. Anyhow, I was shocked to see TV screens mounted to the ceilings, all on the same channel, Fox News. I think that's an invasion of my mind. I forced to listen it while waiting in line.

The pens are tied down to keep you from throwing them at the screen when Sean Hannity opens his big mouth.
