Hi, Rebecca recommended that I post this here-hope I can get some insight....

Here it is:

My husband and I are at the NVC stage just now of our CR1- we just sent back our DS-3032, and AOS bill.

He will be having his interview in London- however, he resides in Aberdeen, Scotland and will be there until he moves over to New York.

Will he have to go to London prior to the interview for his medical? Or do they schedule that within a day or two of the interview?

I have heard of different experiences regarding this, and I am not quite sure how this will be sorted...

Will the medical be handled in Scotland, or London???

Thanks !

Hi Mrs Bruce, I am not 100% sure of this as we are not at that stage yet, but I do know that there used to be medical centres in Endinburgh and in Birmingham. The Birmingham one is now cloed but not sure about Edinburgh, would be good for your hubby if it is still open though

Good luck witht he last stage of the journey anyway

Those centers in Brum and Edinburgh are gone. They were part of Nuffield. Knightsbridge is the contracted provider now with only one location in London.

Hi,

Just wanted to put my two cents in here. My finace is flying over for his medical in April. As soon as we got the date from them we emailed london and (very nicely) requested his interview for the same day. They seemed like they were going to try to accomodate us but we decided it would be too much to try to do in one day. We eventually ask for a date in May and they gave us May5th.

Anyhoo what I'm trying to say is after you book your medical date you might try emailing london and tell them that you finace will need to fly over for the medical and ask if if would be possible to have his interview the day after (or whatever works for you). It will delay you getting your visa because they will have to wait for the medical results but if you don't mind waiting it might save you some money for plane tickets.

We didn't mind waiting because we know we will be filing a waiver and wouldn't receive the visa for several weeks anyway.

Just a thought,

Baileyj

I've read about people being able to do their medical and interview very close together, and one person even the same day I believe. The disadvantage is that the visa can't be granted the same day as the interview because they have to wait for the medical exam results.

I just travelled down from Scotland two weeks ago for my medical and I'm going down again next week for my interview.

You can certainly have both on the same day but as already stated you wont get the visa until they get the medical results. It takes 4-5 to send over the results plus however long it then takes to process them at the Embassy. You schedule your own medical so it's really up to you.

I chose to go down a couple of weeks before so that I can get my visa on the day. It does get expensive though, two sets of flights, accomodation etc.
