I filed my I-751 with a waiver Aug 2006 and received email notices for card production(2/12/07) & approval notice sent(2/16/07) recently. Just this afternoon Feb 20, 2007, upon checking our mailbox I finally have it in my hand my 10yr permanent greencard..It's an overwhelming feeling that i'm done for the moment(N-400 next) after that scary and worrisome I-751 stage. Hope you guys in this forum will have a positive results just like mine. Goodluck and God bless you all!

Hi mooninlove,

What waiver did you file? Did you hire a lawyer to do that for you? I am looking into the waiver and would appreciate more info from you. Thanks,

Colada

My I-751 was filed separately as I was divorced. There was a waiver because I was not able to file a joint petition. On the I-751 part 2 basis for petition, I checked d.) " I entered into....etc..

Hi Mooninlove,

It was great that they didn't even ask you for an interview. Did you have a rather strong case? Hope you don't mind me asking. What was the reason for your divorce? I woder if it makes a different regarding the cause of divorce. I mean, if a divorced immigrant can file for that waiver, I am sure they wouldn't go through the trouble to file for a battered spouse waiver or extreme hardship.

Did you hire a lawyer to file it for you?

I was not interviewed for my I-751, I only had an RFE. It was a no-fault divorce in Ca..I had lots of documents that I submitted during that time, enough for me to get approved and yeah, I had a lawyer filed it for me.

Hello Mooninlove,

Would you message me your lawyer info please? I also live in CA and would like to know a lawyer that is experienced in this matter. Also, if you don't mind, how much did your lawyer charge you? Many thanks!

Where in Ca do you live? Are you gonna file now or still waiting for your decree? They charge depends on each case, if you want to retain the attorney to represent you on your interview (rarely i believe), court or administrative proceedings etc..they accept installments if you could not pay up-front.
