Hello! I'm applying an IR5 for my mom. I finished everything from my side on Dec. 22 last year and received a notice from NVC last week that they are going to transfer the file to the US embassy in China. The notice also mentioned that this VISA has a priority date on 5/1/2007 and as I understood, the case will not be touched by the US consulate until 5/1/2007? So they are not going to do anything at all for 2 months? Is anybody having a same situation here?

Thank you!!

Perhaps they used normal date formatting, 5th January?

You might want to check this website http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_3143.html It gives the priority dates they are working on for March 2007.

You might want to subscribe to this bulletin for updates.

Best of luck!

Thank you! milimelo, I just checked the website but I don't understand it: what catalog does the parent of citizen belong to? 1st in the Family based catalog? It says may/01/01, is it so slow? I'm confused.

They are classed as immediate relatives.... and an immigrant visa number is available to them immediatly that is why it is now being passed to the embassy to deal with...

Kez

That's why I'm confused about the priority date they give to me. It is actually May/01/2006.

Thanks!

It has a priority date of May 1st 2006.... but you did not file till Dec 2006...

Now I am confused...

Kez

I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear: The priority date is May 1st 2006. I applied the visa in May 2006. What I said before was that I sumbit the final documents required by NVC in Dec. 2006. I began to understand it: does it mean that my priority date is actually current?

Thanks!
