Tried calling NVC at 21st day, as expected case hasn't been recieved yet (:

He was very nice though and said to try again in a week but he said it will most likely take two more weeks.

Goodluck to everyone (:

We received ours almost at the 35 day waiting period that they've enlisted for at the moment. It'll come soon though! I know the waiting is frustrating but every day is a day closer :D :D

We received our RFE it states " that additional evidence is required to establish/ qualifying the relationship". Upon further probing i found out my Fiance didn't really provide a whole lot of information. We have now split the job and i'm in charge putting together the pictures which he will have to print out. He only provided 2 facebook chats, so his job is to select the chats from when we first met to now (rather too much than too little). My question is that the 34A he provided has limited information and i would like to send a new one with a fleshier story of how we met and our journey together. Would it be ok to change it? Do we keep it as is and send a new one with a new date and titled amended 34A? I don't want to do something that could rock the boat, but i do feel like a lot more could be said about us that wasn't.

Also, typically once you get one RFE is it unlikely that you'll get another. I'm just worrying if there is anything else that they may find to be lacking or missing.

Hoping to send the reply off on Thursday.

Typically you will only receive one RFE with all the required documents needed to satisfy the RFE request. So if you have 2 items needed, both would be listed. In your case they are only asking for one. There will not be a second RFE on the information you send back in answer to this RFE so take your time and get it right. To answer that question about your relationship, don't change any forms or include any new forms unless specified in the letter.

Take out a piece of paper and create a cover letter, outlining what is included in your return packet. Makes sure case numbers and/or the RFE number are on the cover page so it is easy to find your file. Use case numbers whatever it is they need to locate your record.

Next include everything that you think will establish that you to are a "couple" and having a committed relationship. Don't send the kitchen sink, but at least make it known to whom ever looks at your documents that when they "walk away", they know that this is a truly committed couple in love with there future partner.

So chat logs, if you sent flowers, money or gifts. Include those items either a "receipt" or a picture or paper copy. Phone bills, Skype logs etc.

Pictures with yourself together in loving poses in an about the city that you live in. Pictures in family gatherings with your mother and father and fiancée shows that he has met the family. If you attended any family gatherings include those photos. They just need to show that he belongs and everyone has welcomed him to the family. When I did our pictures I used a laser printer on regular bond paper with 4 pictures posted on each page with captions under each explaining who was in the picture (Tom with my mother and father - Tom and I with my great-grandmother at a family reunion) will paint the picture for you.

  • Include a written page on how you met. What were the stages of your courtship (after meeting we talked on Skype each night for 1 or 2 hours each day and after six months we felt it was time to meet blah blah blah).
  • How many times did either of you meet.
  • What where some of the things you did together when visiting the other.

When you return everything in answer to the RFE, be sure to use a large binder clip to secure all the documents together. If you want to, and you don't have to, use tabs then secure them to the bottom of the page not on the side. There instructions not mine.

You can do this.

My fiancé is from Pakistan and we now have a case number from the NVC. While we wait for Packet 3 from the Embassy, can we jump the gun and get the physical done? Can we fill out the DS 160 and have it ready so when the Packet comes we're a step ahead? Any thing would be helpful. We're very excited and getting impatient. If we can streamline by doing some of this ahead of time it would be great.

Wow, thank you so much you have been unbelievably helpful. I will definitely do as you suggested. This would have been so much easier had we compiled everything while he was visiting. For the pictures it is not necessary to print them out like photos, we can just arrange them on paper with captions as you did? That would make life so much easier.

Again thank you very much.

I'm busy scrounging around for any little thing that places us together at the same place and same time.

Arrange the pictures in any order or use any method you want. Just be sure that the person adjudicating your case does not have to fumble through your RFE or a stack of pictures, it will only delay the process. Keep it simple and easy to follow!

The other thing I did was take screen shots where we had posted pictures of us together on FB, and our engagement announcement, which also show the comments, likes, etc. I think it showed that we are considered a couple by our friends and family in a public forum. Also I included an email my mom sent saying what a great time she had had with us at dinner the previous night and a couple texts from friends to me saying how much they'd enjoyed meeting him etc. good luck I am sure you'll get it in no time!!!

Great information! I hadn't considered emails from family for the evidence.

How many days did you have to wait before you get your case number?

I have it listed on my timeline. I got my nao2 on August 6 & NVC received my case on August 31. It took 25 days!

I was wondering why when I check on the CEAC website, I have to look under immigrant visa instead of non-immigrant visas. Why would that be?

Thank you very much. I did look at your timeline after I wrote my comment earlier :)

Congratulations.

I'm a few weeks behind due to RFE. I'm still waiting for NOA2. This gives me an idea how much longer I have to wait.

Can't explain that one, other then for K1 is a immigrant visa but is treated as a non-immigrant visa. That's just how they do it.

That's because people who get the K1 visa are clearly intended to immigrate. While the visa only gives you permission to marry, the aim is to immigrate. And the process is like a immigration visa! :)
