Thanks! I called back and got both but I just tried checking on CEAC and it says my case number is invalid? Is this normal (like they're still processing it) or do I need to call back and double check?

Nevermind! I was checking under Non-immigrant (which I would have thought it was) but I just checked immigrant and it says its still at NVC.

Exciting though! What's next now that we have our case numbers? I have to wait AGES to get all my police reports from Korea, China and the UK.

Don't wait for the police clearances, start working on those now. Here is what comes in the Packet 3 that you can get started on acquiring the necessary documents for your interview.

Used to be called 'Packet three because they sent you forms etc. through the mail. Now it is just a letter containing a link to instructions found on the embassy website.

Immigrant visas: http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

K visas: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

(The required forms to submit are in the upper right of the page)

Explanation of documents to bring to the interview:

http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html

The letter also provides a link on how to book your medical

http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html

New info as of mid-October 2010: The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Embassy has received the results of the medical examination, so get the medical acheduled early, but after you have returned the forms and checklist so your files will match up.

New info as of June 2011: You will be asked to bring your Police Certificate to the medical appointment.

The forms that require online completing for a K visa are:

DS-160

Readiness for Interview form (which tells the embassy that you have the documents you will need to bring to the interview)

Thanks! But all of the links you have sent to me have been moved?

I will be working on everything that I can whilst I wait for my police clearances, but the police clearances are going to take at least a month to receive so I cannot do my interview until then.. So I'm filling out the DS-160 and having my fiance send all of his documents over to me, getting my police clearances and getting my medical done until I have all of the documents.. Can I fill out the DS-160 now that I have the case number?

For the I-864... Does my fiance need to send it to USCIS as well as sending me an original copy? Or does he send it to USCIS and then scan the copies of his application and W2's over to me? I don't understand how this goes now..

Question: Are we allowed to set up a medical as soon as we get our case # from NVC? Or do we have to wait till the embassy in the fiance country has recieved the papers from NVC and processed it

You can get your medical when you have your case number and police certificate :)

I am confused :-( But we dont have to show the police certificates till our actual interview right? Is there somewhere in the paper work that we make a declaration that we have all the required documents for the interview?

The Affidavit I-134 for the K1 visa does not get sent to NVC or USCIS. My understanding is that from this point forward you don't do anything with USCIS until you're fiancee is here in the US, you're married and it's time to file your Adjustment of Status; the NVC merely processes your K1 visa application and sends it on to the Embassy in your country. Check the K1 flowchart and guide on this site and you'll see that you need to EITHER send some combination of the I-134 affidavit and supporting documents as well as medical results, further proof of relationship, etc. to your embassy OR simply take it all with you to the interview--each country does things a little differently. In our case (Colombia), we just collect all the various paperwork and bring it with us to the interview. Hope that helps!
