So when I moved from Canada in January, I left behind some of my stuff with a friend, about three boxes of clothes, misc. electronics, etc. that I couldn't take with me on the plane. Now I am going to have it sent to me via FedEx, and I remember reading from other's messages on here that you had to send a copy of you I-94 to be sent with your stuff so it wouldn't be charged duty. I am wondering what my friend is supposed to actually do with the copy of the I-94 when I send it to her. Make three copies and glue one onto each of the boxes? How will the customs officials know it's my personal stuff just from the I-94? Will I also have to send her a note that says "I moved and these are my personal items?'' I am confused!

Thanks,

-Eli-

I don't think I would bother sending the I 95. If it's just a couple of boxes, ship them and document old clothes used stuff etc. How the heck are they going to know if you friend just writes gift? I sent my stuff with the movers- needed the I94 for the customs, but if they are just mailing it I don't see a issue. Good Luck.

I was told to give the I-94 to UPS so that it would be duty free.....

I would recommend because last time my fiance sent me a computer to Canada cause mine was broken, and I had a UPS guy calling me to ask if it was something I bought, etc, to try to figure out if there was a custom charge.
