Household count is what determines the amount of income needed to be a sponsor. Your brother and his gf would not count unless you claimed them as dependents on your most recent tax return.

Your household count would be you, plus any minor children you may have, plus anyone you claim as dependent, plus the intended immigrant.

According to this page I need different levels of income for "family unit". Now what is family unit? I live with my brother and his girlfriend. Now if file the K1 would my bro and his gf be included in the family unit so 2 + 2 would be a level 4 of family unit?

Find a different website to get your info from, they didn't even copy the income figures correctly from the USCIS form. Here is the OFFICAL information http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

If a person is not a dependent (you claim them on your taxes) they don't count.
