I'm really not liking the "new" View New Posts feature. I'd rather wait during peak periods. I want to be able to browse through all the new posts since I was last online. This new choice only allows a limited number of recent posts. New is not better.

Also, is there no way to skip to the first unviewed post like there was before?

I added a normal little orange link (same as all over the site) that links you to the most recent post you have not read. If you click on the topic name it takes you to the first post (same as it does on the forums).

Can you elaborate more. I would love to improve the feature. Right now you can list up to the most recent 25 posts and as well list (up to) the most 25 popular threads of the day.

Can't it just be the way it was? New is not better, it's severe.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I added the link to the "New Posts Since my Last Visit" to the My Assistant Tab. How does that work? I figure most people while browsing the site will want to see the most recent posts every once and awhile and clicking the "View New Posts" link will get them that info. If a person wants more detail since they were last on the site (days ago) the link for that will be in the My Assistant tab. Thoughts?

Oh my, this new feature is... somehow... strange.

When I come to the board, I used to click search new posts" and then I could read all the topic titles and take a look at those interesting for me.

Now I get at the most 25 topics, not everything. In order to know what is going on I would have to stay and stare at the screen all day long. :-(

I understand the technical reason behind this change, but at the same time I have the feeling that I missing about at least half of everything which might be interesting.

Very sad.

we have lost the one thing I loved.... oh well if it has to be, it has to be

:crying: :crying: :crying:

I brought it back however just know that under higher loads the 'View New Posts' feature may be offline. On a bright note, next to the 'Today's Active Topics' Link I added the new 'Recent Posts' link. The new feature is always available despite server load.

I have updated / replaced the old Active Topics and New Posts features with a beta program I demo'd on the forums last year (you may remember it). The new feature does not load the forum down and gives the same information (and I think in a better format hopefully).

When I click on this post from Active Topics it says the link is broken.

That is because I removed that post per the request of the original poster. I need to fix the system to not show the post if it is in the recycling bin so to speak ;).

Also, is there no way to skip to the first unviewed post like there was before?

I will add that feature right now :).

Can the BETA feature be tweaked to include the Forum as well as the thread name? Most of the time I don't recall the name of the thread, but rather the forum in which I last posted. :)

Thank you. Overall the occasional non-availablity of the feature "View New Post" seems to be the lesser evil.

Not that the new feature is really evil... ah, you know what I mean.
