POM, that is good news indeed! Please update your timeline and in the future post to our thread for non-family visa AOS (which seems to be your case based on what you have filled out in the timeline already). This will be very helpful for those of us still waiting to gauge how the "line" is moving in Buffalo.

Hi all,

Anyone having a trouble updating their SS card?, I got my EAD card last month September 21 then on September 29 I went to the social security office so I can change my name to my married name and renew my drivers license after. The lady told me I'm not in the system yet so they gave me a letter that they are processing my application and waiting for verification from the Immigration. Today it's been a month since my application, and still my application is pending!!! I went there again 2 weeks ago and told me that they haven't heard anything from the department of homeland security and I've been calling them since then and still my application is pending and NO PROGRESS. We live in the suburb, a car dependent community so a driver's license is really important to me. Has anyone experienced the same problem?? Please help me what to do. They keep telling me the same thing that they can't do anything and all I can do is WAiT. I haven't seen anyone having a problem updating their SS so I'm just unlucky?

Hey, sorry for that experience. When I applied for the name change on my SS card, the lady was very helpful. Honestly, they don't need your EAD card. All they need is confirmation from USCIS. In my case the lady took photocopies of my marriage license and put her signature on those photocopies, then she sent everything to USCIS. It was in July right after the marriage. So, she gave me the letter that my application for the name change is being processed and that I should wait for 4 weeks and they will inform me in the mail about the decision Exactly after 4 weeks I received the letter that I need to wait another 2 weeks, but the new card was in production.

So, I think you should wait another week or so and there will be definitely positive outcome.

I hope so I already called the Departyment of Homeland Security earlier today and forwarded my call to the USCIS. They said all my information are correct. My name is updated and it's in the system so they couldn't really answer my question and help me with the problem

My EAD/ AP Combo Card, has been mailed. Yey!! I can finally update my SSN card, and apply for my driver's license. The last time I went to the SSS to have my name changed, they told me that they need a card, despite showing them my marriage certificate, and the approval letter of my EAD/AP. I already have an old SSN number which I showed her as well... Hopefully it will arrive soon. Unfortunately still waiting for updates for my AOS. And the perennial waiting continues...

Congratulations guys! I am a mid-September applicant from Rochester NY, so my field office is also in Buffalo. Among the September filers, some people in California are already getting their interviews scheduled. Is it particularly slow in Buffalo? Thanks and congrats again!

Hi! Here are a few filers, whose field office is Buffalo and most of them got the interview date. According to USCIS records about

"Number of I-485 Applications to Register Permanent Residence" Buffalo field office doesn't belong to the busy one. In this office significantly less filers than in the others.
