American in Canada

Just joined this site a couploe weeks ago and already Ive found so much info..Ive just made my way into the "Canada" section..so Im posting my original introduction and also a question about the I-130

I've already gone through the Canadian Immigration process (moved here 5 years ago), now we are wanting to move to the US together...I think we have all the paperwork gathered to get the process going finally..

Just wondering if there are more Canadian/American couples here who lived together in Canada and then Immigrated to the US together...?

Im making my way around the forums, trying to soak in as much info as possible.. so Im sure I will see alot of you around here.. and Im sure I will have a few more questions before we send anything in<<

Thank you everyone for welcoming me! This site has been so helpful! We are getting ready to mail off our I-130 this week...

Form G-325 (4 pages from me, 4 from my husband)

Passport pics (2x2) 1 of each of us...names on back

copy of my birth certificate (front and back)

copy of his birth certificate (front and back)

copy of our marriage certificate

copy of his divorce certificate

2 copies of everything we are sending in..

Im just so happy that Ive got others I can talk to as we go through this process!<<

Hello and Welcome Kimmbo. My wife & I lived together in Canada for 19 years before going through the immigration process and moving to the US with our daughter 2 years ago. You are fortunate to have found this site as there is a lot of good information and advice to be found here. Best wishes to you in your journey.

How was the Canadian immigration process? Was it pretty quick and painless? (just curious)

If I had ANY advice to give ........ go get some nerve pills ........I promise you'll need 'em........oh and don't take the slow pace of Montreal personally. Trust me , right now you may feel rational and calm but by the 6 month mark , you'll be lucky to have hair......... and there WILL come a moment , even if brief , that you will think they have it out for YOU personally.

We did, if you count me living in Canada for 6 months and then coming back together.

I'm curious, you are sending in the I-130. Do you know about DCF? Did you know you can take care of the I-130 part in Canada and then just wait for the interview?

DCF is "on hold" at most of the consulates for the time being... see the DCF forum for the entire debacle! You're lucky that you got through DCF before last month.

I didnt know about the DCF until I joined this site..I got very excited about it until I read that as of Jan 23,07 its no longer available because of the Adam Walsh Act...

It's a huge mess right now! I mean, it's a good law (like IMBRA) but just sooooo badly implemented.

There are at least 2 Canadians here who don't know where their petitions are at now. Montreal says they sent them to USCIS for processing/security checks but no progress yet.

Application ($650 CAD)($20 Xpress Post CAD)

April 19th 2002 - CIC Received Application

May 7th 2002 - Processing Started

June 7th 2002 - Sent Visitor Extension ($18 CAD)

June 10th 2002 - CIC received VE app

Aug 12th 2002 - Received Visitor Extension (record) 6 months

December 9th 2002 PR Visa Received (received it before AIP)

December 12th 2002 Approval to Sponsor/AIP Received

December 23rd 2002 Interview / Paid Right of Landing Fee ($975 CAD)

January 17th 2003 PR Card Received

Hi everyone! This may be a very dumb question but here goes...We have everything gathered to mail off tomorrow.. Problem Im having is with the form G325A using Adobe... My I-130 printed off great..but on the G form EVERYWHERE I have a year date its printing a "plus sign" over the date..Ive tried editing it with only 2 numbers "02" and even three "002" nothing is working...anyone have any suggestions? I really didnt want to hand write them all but its looking like I may have to...

For those that produced the + sign, I ended up handwriting that on all 4 pages.
