Just called NVC to know if our case is completed. The representative lady told me that we will have another checklist shortly for the police certificate. But we already received a checklist last month for the same police certificate. She told me that they don't have it. She also suggested me to send the police certificate before receiving the checklist.

I am really upset at this moment. Shall i believe on what she said? i have copies of the documents that i sent on our last checklist SD 29th June which includes the police certificate and also i have given the case number on every page.

any advice???

Did you expedite your case? How did u know that your case is already completed, through phone or in ceac website?

No, we didn't expedite anything, we hardly ever called them as I had no nerves to do that. They were good with e-mails and that suited me. Why do you think it was expedited? Check my time line. NVC received our case some time in February, first scan date was March 30. Then checklist, then CC on May13. Then 76 days to wait for the interview. We have been hanging with the NVC for the full 4 months. From the first scan date to the interview 5 months. We even were put on AP at the NVC stage what is very rear with this type of visa.

i called again and asked them to transfer me to the Case Specialist. The case specialist told me that they still haven't open the checklist package we sent last time. We need to wait more. The lady was confusing us. I think she was telling us about the last checklist. Stupid.

Sure. The checklist asked for either a W-2 or 2014 tax transcript. I only had a 1099-MISC in 2014 (no W-2) and submitted my full tax return, including the 1099 the first time. When I called NVC, the rep told me to write a letter explaining that I don't have W-2s because I didn't do work that required them...

I'll note that I didn't send the transcript (which was obviously the safer option) because the IRS's "get transcript" feature isn't online now. I requested the transcript (via mail) anyway just in case, but it still hasn't arrived -- a full month later.

Hi, you can request your transcript online through IRS and it will comes within 5-10 days. I requested mine and it came in 2days here's the link it's pretty easy and convenient

Got an email/ text on 7/20 from USCIS saying our case has been sent to NVC called today 7/21 to see if it's been received and they said YES! Our case is showing as received but no case number yet, how long will it take to get a case number? (Was told 4weeks but they also told me it takes 35days to receive approved cases from USCIS and mine took 1day? )

Hi - I am just trying to find out if anyone knows the average time between the I-130 being approved and hearing from the NVC. My I-130 was approved on 5/13/15, and as of today, 7/21/15, I have heard nothing. I have never done this before, and this time frame seems quite long. From the time frames I have read in previous posts, my time seems a little long. Am I off-base?

This is so frustrating. The NVC website has a way to check the status of your case, but only if you know your NVC case number, which, of course, they have not provided to me. The phone number simply goes to a recording that tells you to call another time. My attorney tells me to, in effect, shut up and wait. Even though this is my case, I am not permitted to know what, if anything, they are doing. I don't even know if the petition has even been sent to NVC, or is lost.

This is for immigration for the spouse of a US citizen. I am rapidly becoming depressed and feel completely helpless.

Any help?

It shouldn't take 2 months! Usually, in 2 weeks they receive your case and then it's another 2 weeks or so to assign a number. Of course, it's the NVC and everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Delays are common and to add up to it, their whole visa processing and website were not working correctly for the last 2 months.

To call them, I suggest you start trying at 7AM, eastern time. If you hear that recorded message, hang up and try again until you hear a different message.. Then you will be able to navigate the menu and be put on hold until someone picks up. I'eve waited about 40 minutes once. Give them your USCIS number as it it's linked to your process still.

Take all your attorney says with a grain of salt. Call the NVC, don't just wait. Read the guides here and previous posts to understand the steps. Attorneys want to do less work as possible and usually don't necessarily mean your case will be any faster. Being pro-active is the best thing you can do to stay one step ahead.
