Question: Had interview Nov 5; based on what I see from other applicants they get their oath letters after a month. We're moving out on Dec 4. Just wondering if I should call and ask about when receiving the oath letter? Just worried that I might missed the mail. Thank you

Question: Had interview Nov 5; based on what I see from other applicants they get their oath letters after a month. We're moving out on Dec 4. Just wondering if I should call and ask about when receiving the oath letter? Just worried that I might missed the mail. Thank you

Jham Anne - Did you change your address with USCIS? Make sure you sign up for mail forwarding with the post office.

FYI - I did my interview on Oct 29 at the Fairfax office and I still haven't got my oath letter yet. My status changed to "in line for oath ceremony" on Nov 3, six days after my interview. Has yours been updated yet? If not, it should update the week of Nov 9. I wouldn't bother calling USCIS until your status is updated.

I think they have a high volume of applicants in the DC field office and it takes time for them to find open slots. I still have my fingers and toes crossed to be slotted in one of the ceremonies scheduled for Nov 21 but we might get pushed out to December. My guess is that your oath letter will arrive just before you move out.

My husband passed his interview today!

Right after the interview, they handed him an Oath Letter scheduled 11/25/15! Yayy!! ???

NOTHING WORTH HAVING EVER COMES EASY.

Hello my friends,

I had Oath Ceremony this morning.

Scheduled ceremony was at 8:30AM, but because of serious F train delay, I got there 20 minutes late, fortunately the ceremony wasn't started yet, and I'm not the only one who's late. Counting from when I got in the courtroom and sat down, more than 20 people came late randomly, I have no place to judge though. After a long wait, three officials started to do routine workflows, people were called to the front row by row, handing back their green cards and travel documents, given a number, checking each of their personal information on the naturalization paper, then putting a signature on it. As for me, I petitioned to change my legal name, so it was my new legal name on the paper, and I put my new signature on it. After this process, we kept waiting for the judge to come, at about 11ish, judge came, given us a "Brooklyn style" hello and a brief speech, we started to take oath. After taking the oath, the judge left, there officials started to do another round of routine, which was to collect the questionnaire and give us our naturalization papers. After getting your naturalization paper, I'm literally, officially, finally an US citizen. By the way, one is not allowed to bring any device that can record sound and take photos into the court, so I deposited my phone and camera there and took them back when leaving the court.

Two more things: 1. DO NOT lose the naturalization paper by all means. 2. If you change your name, you must also change the name on your SS card and your driver's license.

Congrats to those who got to the last step, and good luck to those who are still running the whole process, don't panic you'll be there.

Hello my friends,

I had Oath Ceremony this morning.

Scheduled ceremony was at 8:30AM, but because of serious F train delay, I got there 20 minutes late, fortunately the ceremony wasn't started yet, and I'm not the only one who's late. Counting from when I got in the courtroom and sat down, more than 20 people came late randomly, I have no place to judge though. After a long wait, three officials started to do routine workflows, people were called to the front row by row, handing back their green cards and travel documents, given a number, checking each of their personal information on the naturalization paper, then putting a signature on it. As for me, I petitioned to change my legal name, so it was my new legal name on the paper, and I put my new signature on it. After this process, we kept waiting for the judge to come, at about 11ish, judge came, given us a "Brooklyn style" hello and a brief speech, we started to take oath. After taking the oath, the judge left, there officials started to do another round of routine, which was to collect the questionnaire and give us our naturalization papers. After getting your naturalization paper, I'm literally, officially, finally an US citizen. By the way, one is not allowed to bring any device that can record sound and take photos into the court, so I deposited my phone and camera there and took them back when leaving the court.

Two more things: 1. DO NOT lose the naturalization paper by all means. 2. If you change your name, you must also change the name on your SS card and your driver's license.

Congrats to those who got to the last step, and good luck to those who are still running the whole process, don't panic you'll be there.

Had my interview and oath ceremony today!

Was scheduled for 8AM but got called in around 8:20AM. Very very nice lady in her mid 50s...I'd say! Swore me in, went over the application (the yes/no questions)

Six civic questiosn were;

1.How many supreme court judges?

2.Who's the 3rd inline for presidency?

3.Name one branch of govt.?

4.How many years do senators get elected?

5.What's the role of the cabinet?

6.What did declaration of indepedence do?

Reading;She had me read" When is Columbus Day?". Writing; She had me write " Columbus Day is in October"

She then explained that a judicial oath cremony would take place in 2 months or I could come back in the afternoon for an administrative oath ceremony. Chose to come back in the PM.

Interview took about 5 minutes. Ceremony lasted about 20 minutes in the afternoon(25 people were sworn to oath). After the ceremony, I went straight to the post office and aplied for a passport! Done with USCIS 4ever! Good luck to those still in the process!
