Oh, thank you for this information. I hope I get my oath letter soon. The whole interview process seemed really unorganized today and I was frustrated by it all. I am glad my application was approved but wow, what a mess.

I am crossing all my fingers and toes that I can get my oath done before Thanksgiving so I can plan for my trip out of town. Kinda worried about getting stuck in limbo. :(

I have been talking to a few guys who did their interview in Dallas. Some had same day if you do not live close to Dallas area. Maybe those who live in Waco, Waxahachie and the like. If you live in McKinney, Plano, Richardson are surrounding areas, they hardly do same day. All those who did not do same day had their oath within three weeks of the interview. They received their letters within the following week after interview. You may get a notification earlier since today is a Monday.

I have an International flight in the second week of December so I am also hoping I receive my oath before then so I can apply for a passport. All the best Lovelulu and let us know.

We are aware of status not updating after interview (this was going on for a while now). But the updates prior to interview usually get entered consistently, unless your case is stuck somewhere.

Some of us had no case updates other than "Case received" , even months after our biometrics.

Some of us are still not as equal as others :)

For you who anxiously awaits a change of status...Don't hold your breath! My status never changed after I got the "interview scheduled". Even now, a while after my oath ceremony it still says interview scheduled...

First Amendment and separation of Church from State has a lot more to it than most of our contemporaries realize.

The truth is, the Pilgrims were Puritan fascists who were only looking for their
own
religious freedom. They were too ... independent and fanatical even for the more mainstream zealots of English and European Reformations. They called themselves “Puritans” because they were dedicated to
purifying
the Church of England of Roman influences. They
hated
Rome and they
hated
heretics, and they
hated
sinners and they really hated
witches
. Their reigning English King, James I was also a foaming Protestant Scottish witch hunter, and was every bit as fanatical as the Pilgrims were, since they were all theological soul mates. But James I actually had to sophisticate himself a bit, particularly stifling his witch-hating fanaticism when he took power in England. He had to accommodate the more moderate and educated Protestantism that then still held great sway in his English Court and Parliament. This social moderation at home however, didn’t slow him from encouraging the exportation of sharp, Puritan zeal to his growing colonies in the New World though, where raw Puritanism would be free to dominate the new society he intended to found there.

I say with very little exaggeration, that living under Puritan rule in the New England American Colonies would be nearly as religiously oppressive as living under the Taliban in Afghanistan, or Wahhabi ruled Saudi Arabia. The principle difference between Sharia Law and Pilgrim Law would be that the Pilgrims let women show

their whole faces in public. the Puritans in particular on the other hand, weren’t all that put off by the Inquisition’s tactics or even goals in and of themselves. The Puritans and many other Reformers in truth just wanted the Inquisitional zeal applied unilaterally up and down the Church ranks from clergy to commoner. They just didn’t think you should be able to buy or politic your way out of being tortured into a confession of heresy. They figured that kings, Popes and bishops and priests were just as good candidates for heresy as anyone else—the more the merrier. Puritans in short, actually wanted
more
repression and
more
micromanaging of the Body of Christ. They wanted the power to institute the same sort of fanatical purification of Christendom that the Inquisition only
pretended
to enforce, and then only selectively, often for personal, social, or political reasons. The Puritans wanted their newly cleansed Protestant Inquistition to be
universally
applied to all Christians of whatever rank. The Puritans wanted
everyone
to be beaten into piety whatever his station in the Church or society– they just wanted to insure it was being done fairly and correctly by a dictatorial theocracy of their
own
design.We read about the Salem Witch trials, some decades after the Pilgrims landed, and think that hanging nineteen men and women as witches on the say-so of a couple of snotty little girls looking for attention was a fluke carried out by an isolated, small group of inbred fanatics. We think the old man they crushed under stones for refusing to submit to their trials was the result of some abnormal paranoia due to the bunker mentality of a pioneer colony in a harsh new land. When we read about the dozens of fellow colonists they just let rot in jail for months as they queued them up for their American Inquisition, we assume that this sort of fiendish treatment had to be the product of some sort of atypical mass mental illness brought about through a bad diet and not enough sunlight. But no,
that’s what Puritans did

Hello everyone,

I had my interview today at Prosperity Avenue in Fairfax VA. The interview was scheduled for 12:45pm but I arrived 40 minutes early because I was not sure what to expect re: parking etc. The last time I was there was 5 years ago for my LPR interview. There is a public parking garage adjacent to the USCIS building so it turned out not to be a big deal. Anyway, I went through security check and followed the signs to the 2nd floor. There were a handful of people in the waiting room. I walked up to the reception desk to check in and they told me that they would check me in 20 minutes before my interview time but I was welcome to sit in the waiting area. The waiting room filled up pretty quickly and several people had their attorneys with them, others brought spouses and even small children. The IO came to get me at 12:50pm. I had already prepared myself for a longer wait based on other people's experiences but I only waited 5 minutes. He introduced himself and shook my hand. He was a nice looking Latino man in his late 30's to early 40's, very pleasant and jovial.We walked back to his office and chatted about general things. Weather yesterday compared to today, did I have trouble finding the building. General banalities. We entered his office and he asked me to sit down. He asked me to confirm my full name. Asked for my passport (current and expired), green card and driver's license. He said I could keep any other documents that I had to the side for now. Then he asked me to stand and swore me in. After that it was all business. He started with reviewing my application, we went through every piece of information and ended up making only one correction to my application. I had a speeding citation from last year so when he asked if I had ever been cited for an offence I said yes, and explained. I had already included some evidentiary info about this traffic violation with my application, and he said, it was not an impediment to my being eligible for naturalization. After that we moved to the reading and writing test. Followed by the civics question. He asked the following questions:

1/ We elect a president for how many years?

2/ Who is the current speaker of the house of representatives? (we both chuckled at this one)

3/ When was the declaration of independence adopted?

4/ What do we call the first 10 amendments to the constitution?

5/ Name one of the two longest rivers in the US?

6/ Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived?

I passed all 6 and after giving my last answer he made a joke about being relieved that part was over. He also gave me form N-652 showing that I had passed the civics, reading and writing test and he was recommending my application for approval. He said I should get a letter inviitng me to the next oath ceremony. Before I left, I told him that I had brought alot of evidentiary info with me eg tax transcripts, birth certificate, social security card etc. Was any of this information needed? He said no but he reviewed my file one last time to make sure all the paperwork was completed and he found that I needed to complete another biographical data form. Which was good otherwise my file would have been kicked back and processing delayed. I filled out the form in the waiting area and left it at the reception desk. The IO had already alerted them so it was no problem.

All in all, I think the whole interview took about 20 minutes at the most.

Best of luck to everyone still waiting. My advice to everyone is to remain calm, know your application thoroughly and don't be afraid to ask the IO before you leave if there is any other information they need from you, especially, if you already have most of the paperwork with you on the day of the interview.

Now, I am back to stalking my email and USCIS site for an update on my oath ceremony :goofy:

First Amendment and separation of Church from State has a lot more to it than most of our contemporaries realize.

The truth is, the Pilgrims were Puritan fascists who were only looking for their
own
religious freedom. They were too ... independent and fanatical even for the more mainstream zealots of English and European Reformations. They called themselves “Puritans” because they were dedicated to
purifying
the Church of England of Roman influences. They
hated
Rome and they
hated
heretics, and they
hated
sinners and they really hated
witches
. Their reigning English King, James I was also a foaming Protestant Scottish witch hunter, and was every bit as fanatical as the Pilgrims were, since they were all theological soul mates. But James I actually had to sophisticate himself a bit, particularly stifling his witch-hating fanaticism when he took power in England. He had to accommodate the more moderate and educated Protestantism that then still held great sway in his English Court and Parliament. This social moderation at home however, didn’t slow him from encouraging the exportation of sharp, Puritan zeal to his growing colonies in the New World though, where raw Puritanism would be free to dominate the new society he intended to found there.

I say with very little exaggeration, that living under Puritan rule in the New England American Colonies would be nearly as religiously oppressive as living under the Taliban in Afghanistan, or Wahhabi ruled Saudi Arabia. The principle difference between Sharia Law and Pilgrim Law would be that the Pilgrims let women show

their whole faces in public. the Puritans in particular on the other hand, weren’t all that put off by the Inquisition’s tactics or even goals in and of themselves. The Puritans and many other Reformers in truth just wanted the Inquisitional zeal applied unilaterally up and down the Church ranks from clergy to commoner. They just didn’t think you should be able to buy or politic your way out of being tortured into a confession of heresy. They figured that kings, Popes and bishops and priests were just as good candidates for heresy as anyone else—the more the merrier. Puritans in short, actually wanted
more
repression and
more
micromanaging of the Body of Christ. They wanted the power to institute the same sort of fanatical purification of Christendom that the Inquisition only
pretended
to enforce, and then only selectively, often for personal, social, or political reasons. The Puritans wanted their newly cleansed Protestant Inquistition to be
universally
applied to all Christians of whatever rank. The Puritans wanted
everyone
to be beaten into piety whatever his station in the Church or society– they just wanted to insure it was being done fairly and correctly by a dictatorial theocracy of their
own
design.We read about the Salem Witch trials, some decades after the Pilgrims landed, and think that hanging nineteen men and women as witches on the say-so of a couple of snotty little girls looking for attention was a fluke carried out by an isolated, small group of inbred fanatics. We think the old man they crushed under stones for refusing to submit to their trials was the result of some abnormal paranoia due to the bunker mentality of a pioneer colony in a harsh new land. When we read about the dozens of fellow colonists they just let rot in jail for months as they queued them up for their American Inquisition, we assume that this sort of fiendish treatment had to be the product of some sort of atypical mass mental illness brought about through a bad diet and not enough sunlight. But no,

The "normal" way is to apply at the post office. This takes 4-6 weeks. You can also apply "expidited" at the post office. This take 2-3 weeks.

But, if you have travel plans within 2 weeks, you can hand deliver your application at a local passport agency. This takes less than 1 week. Most of them will give you the passport same day if travel is within 2 days. I will naturalize on Wednesday, and have an appointment Thursday at the Chicago Passport Agency. Will be on a flight to Canada on Friday evening.

One quick question, do I get to apply the US passport right after the oath ceremony? (In the right facility of course.) Thank you.

May be! Coz after our oath in philly, the center director congratulated all of us and told that we can just walk in to the local philly passport agency and can acquire our passport the same day within any of the next 30 days. It seems they have an agreement with the agency just for the newly naturalized citizens even though if one doesn't have any immediate travel plans....But I'm not sure if it is the same case in every city!

If they dont mention this themselves at oath, you can always inquire about that right there after the ceremony. I suggest you to take passport pics with you as they give you the passport application with your oath packet and if you are given the option you can go, apply and receive your passport the same day!

Even though we didn't opt for expedited service, we got an email saying the passports were shipped today. So hopefully should receive it in this week. Its been a little over 2weeks since we applied!

Omg, congrats!

I am nervous of my upcoming interview on Thursday! Hope mine will go smooth interview.

Hi Jham Anne - Thanks so much. My advice is to get there about 20-30 minutes early so that you are relaxed. They will check you into the system 20 minutes before your interview. Know your application thoroughly. If you need to, have a copy of your n400 in front of you. And of course keep practicing the civics questions until you have the answers committed to memory. Before you leave, don't forget to ask if they need any additional paperwork from you. Would be a shame to have your file kicked back because it was missing a form or information you could have provided on the day of the interview.
