I had my interview today. Scheduled time was 9:00, I showed up at 8:30. I was called in at 8:50. Interviewing officer was a middle-aged Caucasian lady. She started out a bit distant and wary, but over the course of the interview she became more relaxed and friendly.

The interview started with the test. Six questions: (a) Location of Statue of Liberty, (b) Two federal holidays, © What we promise when we become US citizens, (d) Name of governor, (e) Name of movement to end racial discrimination, and (F) Name of first President.

She then went over the paperwork. She had to make numerous changes since (a) I had updated telephone numbers, (b) I had info re: travel after submitting the N-400, and © I had a list of organizations I had forgotten about when I filled out the N-400. She mentioned my traffic ticket from many years ago but said "It is not a disqualifying offense" and moved on. The only document she asked from me was my marriage certificate, which she photocopied and gave back to me.

At the end she said "I am recommending your application to be approved" and gave me the N-652 with the "Congratulations" part checked. She said I would receive my oath notice in the mail, since my state only does judicial ceremonies 1-2 times a month.

I will update when I receive my oath letter. Next date according to the court's website is Oct. 30th, I hope it will be on that date since I would like to get my new passport before Thanksgiving so I can go somewhere nice to celebrate...

Hi guys, while I'm studying for the civil test, something confused me.

Some questions have more than one possible answers, if I'm not asked to answer an exact number of answers for that question, do I answer all of them or just one?

Example 1,

"What is an amendment?"

> A change to the constitution.

> An addition to the constitution.

Example 2,

"What does the Constitution do?"

> Sets up the government.

> Defines the government.

> Protects basic rights of Americans.

Thank you for replying me.

I filed under the 5-year rule because my green card is employment-based. My spouse became a US citizen shortly before I filed my N-400, so maybe that's why the officer wanted to photocopy my marriage certificate???

App received 07/14/15 interview scheduled 08/14 Interview 09/22 Approved !!!

Had interview this morning at 9AM .Got called in by a Spanish lady and the usual good morning how r u .Got to her desk and she was friendly but serious .Asked the yes/no questions in the application and was checking them off as I answered .You belong to a terrorists group , alcohol, arrest .etc. .Got through with those no issues and she did the write a sentence part and said repeatedly "Washington was our first president " . made me read line 3 on another form .Then asked the civics 6 questions Chief justice name ? How many House reps ? How many years do House reps serve? when do we vote for president ? Name a war in 1900's? What does Judicial branch do ?

Asked to see my birth cert., marriage cert., and kids birth cert, I actually did not have my birth certificate and told her I did not see it on the list of items to bring .She said no problem and moved on .

After that she started asking me about name changes ,What name do I want on my naturalization certificate . And since I am doing a name change my oath will be held in a court house due to the legality of name change .So I wont be doing the normal oath ceremony .She informed that they do court house oath/name changes twice a month .And most likely I will be in the October schedule cause this month is almost over .

Then she finally said the words congratulations and .As soon as she got the must ask questions and signatures needed done her demeanor got more relaxed and friendly .

The best part of it all !!

So it finally sinks in that I am done and this day that I have waited so long for is finally here .And the emotions get the best of me and shed a tear or two lol.... She was just saying how happy she is for me and I did it the right way and so on .

So I am getting myself composed and get my sunglasses out and the officer goes " oh yeah good idea wear your shades , imagine those people outside will think I tortured you or something" and we both break out laughing .And when I call my next appointment they will be terrified to see me ."

I said that is so mean but funny as hell and she agreed and laughed again lol....

so I thanked her and she walked me out to the lobby .
