I just have say it was strange to get the notice of my husband being in line for his interview yesterday. 3 years ago yesterday (9/10/2012) my husband was in Mexico waiting for his I-601 waiver to be approved, we went to Cancun to see eachother after 3 mothns apart and the day we were leaving 9/10/2012 I checked his case status before we started packing and his waiver was approved. It is just nice to see where we were 3 years ago vs. today.

You will receive the interview letter and it will indicate which documents you should bring to the interview (at the bottom of page). And yes, they have everything (from my GC applications), maybe they just want to see/update the docs.

I submitted my N-400 application based on marriage, so the list they asked me to bring are a marriage certificate, proof death/divorce of prior marriage, and spouse's birth certificate. Since my husband lost his birth cert., so he has to get a new one. His passport is not on the list they provided, I'll bring his just in case.

Just take what they have listed. My husband took everything and the only thing they asked for during his interview was his permanent resident card and license but I am guessing it is on a case by case basis. He was stressed about the interview. Once he arrived and signed in it took 20 minutes including wait time.

Could you please tell us how did your interview process go? Like what questions did they ask you? Etc..

It was pretty simple interview.

I arrived 30minutes before my interview. After going through the security screening, I was called to a desk where my letter was confirmed and stamped. A front desk officer instructed me to drop the appointment letter in a post mail shaped box where it will be picked up and I will be called accordingly. On getting to the waiting room I was glad that there was no line. However, while I was waiting to be called a young lady came out of the place with tears in her eyes. I don't know what transpired in her interview but I had to pause and pray for a positive experience at that moment.

The officer called me in after waiting for 15minutes. On getting to her office, she asked me to affirm that I will tell nothing but the truth.

Thereafter, she asked me to take a sit and the questions started (with a 'NO' expected reply).

She asked:

Have you ever lied to a government official?

Have you ever being arrested?

Have you ever belong to a group that tortured people or a terrorist group?

Have you ever belong to a communist group?

And so on .....

All these questions (including confirming your address) were part of the application form that was previously submitted. As I answered she checked all these questions on the form.

Then after doing all that was needed on the application form she moved to the real deal which was asking me the US History questions. She asked me 5 questions from the 100 expected questions.

After realizing I have answered them correctly, she asked me do read 3 statements aloud.

She also asked me to right down a statement that she made.

Then she asked me to confirm if the name on a printout matches my information correctly. I affirm Yes! She then asked me to initialize the paper work and then told me this is the way the information will appear in my naturalization certificate.

She congratulated me and said she has recommended me for approval.

She also gave me a copy of the decision letter.

And that concluded the interview process.

She told me to expect my oath letter in the mail in 6-8 weeks. She let me know I probably won't have to travel this far to take my oath ceremony.

I was so happy to dash out of the office and get on the road to make my 3hours drive back home.

Yes it is true that you have sent a copy of everything that they requested but you now have to show them you have the originals.

It is a case by case interview. In my case, I filed based on 3years marriage so I was asked to bring the following:

- Original copy of appointment letter;

- Driver's license;

- International passport to show if I travelled in 5years or not;

- Birth certificate of my spouse or naturalization certificate;

- Tax transcript for 3 years (joint);

- Alien registration card (green card);

- Any evidence of selective service registration;

- Marriage certificate; and if applicable

- Proof of death or divorce certificate of each previous marriage previously entered into by you or your spouse.

NOTE

I believe it is better ​to be over prepared than to be under prepared.

In my interview, the officer asked me for evidence that I married my spouse in good faith (that is, we are still financially committed). She specified by asking for either joint lease/mortgage or joint bank account. I then brought out a pack of 3 years joint bank account statements that I have with me. She said, a copy will be enough for her.
