Neggy Peggy's bio corrected.

We paid $3000 for flight tickets that are within the time frame of the initial extension letter, and I was not aware that there was a possibility of getting a letter suggesting not to travel until I get the extended card. At this point I'm still hoping I'll be able to get a passport stamp and go. I'm getting a bit nervous about doing it 1 day before we leave though (we already made arrangements at work and travel and family arrangements in Europe...). There is no earlier appointment available than 1 day before our flight, and they say on the website that there are no walk-ins at our center, but perhaps I should still try to get a walk-in accompanied by my spouse this week regardless... Does anybody have an experience with this?

Apparently they give you hard time when you travel with that extension letter, no matter when! I had a rough time back in December while my extension letter was still valid (till July 2015). But I was treated well before that when I was traveling with my valid GC. The same thing happened to my friend coming back to US while her husband was waiting for her outside with her new GC in hand. She's been questioning for 2 hours. :angry:

1) Jaagoda - congratulations! With which service center did you file, California or Vermont?

2) Neggy Peggy - I just added you, good luck

3) I just received my approval letter today with a decision date of 5/12/16 (info edited below) - yeay! Keep it rolling, Vermont! The case did not update online or in the phone system. It feels a bit bittersweet because the approval letter says that I should NOT travel outside of the U.S. before receiving my new card, as I may have difficulty reentering the U.S. (!!!) It also says that in case of emergency I can try to try to request a stamp during an infopass appointment, but there is no guarantee that I'll get the stamp. Well, we are scheduled to travel to see family in Europe next week (a planned vacation, not an emergency) and it's surprising to me that a valid extension letter is not sufficient for me to reenter. I just called USCIS to verify, but it did not help much - the agent didn't see that my case was approved, told me not to travel if the letter says not to travel, said I can try to get an appointment but there is no guarantee :-/ Luckily I was able to schedule an infopass appointment 1 day before we travel (no walk-ins in my office), hopefully there won't be any issues getting the stamp.

Does anybody know how long it typically takes to get the actual card? The letter says "within 60 days" and the agent estimated 4 weeks.

My approval was May, 12. Status changed to card mailed 2 days ago. My mom-in-law just texted me that she got the card.

That's insane! It's not our fault that they take so long to process an ROC, and that they give us a letter in the meantime.

My status changed to "New card is being produced" on 5/17, but there seems to be some variety regarding how long it takes to receive the card after this status. I'll be waiting for my card but to arrive but if it doesn't come before I leave, I'll keep my infopass appointment and request a passport stamp.

Apparently they give you hard time when you travel with that extension letter, no matter when! I had a rough time back in December while my extension letter was still valid (till July 2015). But I was treated well before that when I was traveling with my valid GC. The same thing happened to my friend coming back to US while her husband was waiting for her outside with her new GC in hand. She's been questioning for 2 hours. :angry:

Thank you! Just don't worry and be positive. I can see so many applicants received their new card within 2 weeks! Hope you will get yours soon.
