Apply for EAD or wait?

Hi all,

I applied for the AOS for my wife and step-daughter (daughter) on January 29, 2007, they have their biometrics appointment on March 01, 2007. Just curious, does anyone know the wait time after the biometrics for the AOS interview for Detroit, Michigan? How about the wait time for the EAD if I were to file the I-765?

EADs are processed by the MSC, not your DO.

We didn't apply for the EAD, and I make enough money for us to survive without it, but if we had it to do over again, we would apply. Think of it as insurance. If your case faces unexpected delays (as ours did), you'll make the money back several times over.

There is no set wait time from Biometrics to AOS interview/CSC transfer - if we knew that I bet there wouldn't half as many threads on this board! The wait time depends on how long your DO takes to process AOS (just look up processing times, but we all know those aren't accurate) and how long your namecheck takes to come back. EAD is supposed to be processed in 90 days and I think most peoples are, but that also isn't a guarantee.

There is definitely no set timeframe. We were expecting the EAD to be approved much sooner than our AOS application, but we already have our AOS interview scheduled and no word at all on our EAD.

There really is no sense in all of this, so you simply must decide what makes sense to you.

am a Michigan resident too. I am in Grand Rapids. I applied for my EAD on 11-28 and I just recieved it. So it takes about 90 days for the EAD to get approved. I hope that answers your question.

Can you provide a timeline on when did u mail your stuff to the USCIS, and if you have gotten an interview date in detroit? as I will be doing my AOS in detroit too, want to see how long is it taking them to schedule dates!

I replied via private message to you, hope that's ok. Thanks to all of you, not needing the extra money from my wife being able to work, just that for the past 17 years this is all that she has known, work, work, and more work. Residing in Michigan and the temperature being as cold as it has been (wife's from the southern tip of China, warm climate), well she's developing "cabin fever". We go out when I get home, go out on the weekends but she misses having a job. Heck, might as well apply for the EAD, what could it hurt, chances are that we'll be getting the AOS before the EAD, but then again, who knows???
