I know this is a silly question, but I have to pay a fee for a relative(I-130), then I have to pay another fee because the relative is my wife(129f)?

6-12 interview date set (discovered, rather) ... (still no NOA2)

6-22 email notification of NAO2 for I-130

6-27 email notification of NOA2 for 129F

7-15 Medical appointment - Docs say she has pneumonia and want to run 2 months + $2K USD of tests.

7-19 interview

7-20 informed that she has cleared medical. Documents not yet forwarded to Embassy, they will not release them to her, saying they must deliver the documents themselves. (Not true. many people had their medical papers @ the interview)

7-21 Missed flight

7-25 Docs recieved by embassy, visa all ready to go

7-27 Visa revieved

7-28 ARRIVED IN USA!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

9-28 5 page RFE sent :(

You do not have to file the I129F, it is optional, and you only have to do it if you think it makes sense for your situation.

01/03/07 - returned AoS Fee Bill via Priority Mail (James' shortcut)

01/22/07 - received IV Fee Bill - overnighted back to NVC same day

01/27/07 - recieved I864 package; 01/29/07 - overnighted I864 to NVC

01/29/07 - DS230 generated (phone system not updated, email response 2/5/07)

02/05/07 - mailed DS-230 to NVC via express mail

02/20/07 - CASE COMPLETE!!

04/18/07 - INTERVIEW!!!! - APPROVED!!!!

1/25/07 - approved ...NOA2 via snail mail - 1/29/07

Which visa do you want your wife to come on? CR-1 (immigrant) or K3 (non-immigrant)?

If you're filing for a K3, then you need to file the I-129F and pay the fee requested. Remember, they are 2 separate petitions being processed separately.

2007-04-16: I-485 and I-765 sent to Chicago (My AOS/EAD checklist)

2007-04-17: Received at Chicago

2007-04-23: NOA1 date (both)

2007-05-10: Biometrics appointment (both - Biometrics review)

2007-06-05: AOS interview letter date

2007-06-13: AOS interview letter received in mail

2007-07-03: EAD card production ordered

2007-07-07: EAD card received! (yay!)

2007-08-23: AOS interview (Documents / Interview review)

2007-08-23: Green card production ordered!!!

2007-08-24: Welcome notice mailed!

2007-08-27: Green card production ordered again... ?

2007-08-28: Welcome notice received!

2007-09-01: Green card received!

I will be filing for CR1, and K3 as well. Don't worry, you're not the only who'll be poor. The combined total filing fee is 360 dollars. And, I heard that the VISA processing fee is another 385 dollars. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong?

I hope you're prepared for the financial responsibilities. I am in college with a double major study in engineering. I am very poor, but I am happy that my income last year is a little over 125% of the poverty-line. This means that I don't necessarily have to get a co-sponser. However, I will get a co-sponser any how to improve my wife's chance of coming here. I wish the best of luck to you, Portlander! ;)

Get ready for more fees ... each sponsor petition is a few hundred dollars well. I'm in college as well (Microbology test tomorrow :) and being a single dad until my wife can get here.

CR-I visa processing at the consulate is something like $380 (something like that). K3 visa processing at the consulate is $100.

Also factor in additional costs like:

- medical

- vaccinations

- police certificate

- birth certificate

- marriage certificate

- translations

- notarising documents (if necessary)

- travel to the consulate

Thank goodness I have all those additional hidden costs paid off :cry: . I'm going for the K-3 instead. When my wife gets here, she'll help me pay for all those future costs of filing AOS, etc...What a burden. If you're in college, please don't get a foreign wife! :) (Just kidding)
